Alright, apparently I was lied to because the buildings end up just as fucked as everything else.
On the plus side, I discovered that if I set all my graphics settings to maximum:
[t]http://puu.sh/4h2Q2.jpg[/t]
the characters rip semi-properly! Of course there's still the matter of UVs but hey, it's a start.
it's really hit and miss when it rips the uvs on the buildings.
it's usually only 1 building that has their UVs
I was lied to. Again.
Apparently that rip was a random fluke, because everything is back to being filled with holes no matter what settings I apply.
So we're back at the beginning: characters are impossible unless someone else get the .rip files for them, something nobody is able to/is too apathetic to do.
You know what, I've had enough. This game has some truly amazing models, but unless someone else comes along it ain't happening.
It really is a shame this doesn't work out. Wish there would be mod tools like for GTA. Not only for extracting models, but also to get new ones in.
There are only a few asian models (be it vehicles, buidlings, props, w/e) and this game would be nice to rip from.
Wish there would be mod tools like for GTA. Not only for extracting models, but also to get new ones in.
Yeah, if only. I doubt the developers will release any tools, there's probably licensing issues with the software they used.
I've tried asking around to see if anyone can make some unofficial tools, but nooo. Even on a website where the only thing people do is make tools for games, I've still been utterly ignored.
Let's face it: nobody cares about this game anymore. Even if they do, it's pointless since nobody can be bothered to actually do anything.
I know Just Cause 2 used .bin files, would it be possible that the files were a little bit of the same format?
I would snip this,
but yeah maybe they both use bin?
i dont know i dont own just cause 2
Doubt it. Do they have .perm.bin and .temp.bin?
Also, I just realized I forgot to release the ambulance. It's in the OP as usual.
Welp, we got two models out of this whole mess. It's better than nothing. (but only slightly)

yes you right but people do care about this the only thing is if you asked someone with reverse engineering skills he won't do it for you because Mr.Gold Card dosen't have the time for it and he want all the attention to himself.
Does anyone here actually know someone with reverse engineering skills?
Doesn't hurt to ask. Worst case scenario, they'll just ignore us like everyone else. I have a link to some sample files and other tools in this thread.
well later this month i'm going to take classes in reverse engineering ( for newbies ) and for 1 month i will be able to crack Ps1 game models Lol :)

But a lot of ps1 models look bad and dated.
yeah i'm just saying that to crack Ps3 and xbox360 models you need a 2 years experience so 1 month is enough to learn cracking Ps1 models :)
anyone agree ? ? ?
But a lot of ps1 models look bad and dated.
Well, good luck with that I guess.
i feel like that you're pretty disappointed.
Well, good luck with that I guess.
No, the encription of psx game archives + how the model data are stored are in a lot of cases more complicated then the ps2.
i feel like that you're pretty disappointed.
More like mediocre.
It was a great plan, I tried my best, but there's just nothing else I can do. No sense in moping about it!
I remember someone working on texture or model extraction on xentax but then gave up.
Maybe it isn't people not wanting to do it, it may just be that it's to hard?
but its NOT impossible to extract the models.
people already extracted from PS3 games.
like heavenly sword for the ps3 everybody said its impossible but some people still extracted some characters.
No, the encription of psx game archives + how the model data are stored are in a lot of cases more complicated then the ps2.
[editline]2nd September 2013[/editline]
no its not hard you see its all about reverse engineering.
i mean when the developers wants to make a sequel to their game. they DON'T re sculpt the whole model they just re use the same model from the previous game by extracting it and add little improvments like face ageing.
so there is still a hope for this game.
I remember someone working on texture or model extraction on xentax but then gave up.

I took a look at some of the models, it really shouldn't be too difficult. The guys at Xentax should certainly be able to do it.
Problem is, they either don't want to or simply don't care. All the other request threads get tons of attention, mine is the only empty one.
do you know chroxx ?
he is pretty famous in Game reverse engineering.
i mean he's the only one in the net who extracted a model from Metal Gear Solid 4.
I took a look at some of the models, it really shouldn't be too difficult. The guys at Xentax should certainly be able to do it.

but really don't give up all this months and you still did not get bored of this game
I didn't say that it's impossible, some psx games are even supported by noesis , if i remember well,
but in most cases they are really a pain even for the experts. ..and these old games probably doesn't worth the time spent to reverse their file format.
yeah they are so LOW polygons.

I know it's frustrating that these your only doing this because no one cares what you're doing or do not want help, but do not give up man, I know it's hard and no one (not all) cares, but you can.
I do not know the game (I have not played) but let me try, if I can repair/create his UV,I'm testing with this sedan

I assume he just downloaded the model I already ripped.
Ohhhh i didn't see it Lol.
i have great news by the way :)
I assume he just downloaded the model I already ripped.
What is it? Did a programmer finally notice this game?
no but i'm asking mariokart64n
usually he dosen't ignore peoples requests and he is mainly extract from xbox360 games.
and he recently extracted models from metal gear rising on xbox360.
What is it? Did a programmer finally notice this game?

i'm asking mariokart64n
Eh, from what I've heard he seems to have quite the reputation. Well, here's hoping he responds.
I don't know if mariokart64n will respond. He's busy from what I heard.
Even I'm still waiting to see if he can extract some Perfect Dark Zero models.
BTW, maybe NCDyson might help with this, but he's hasn't been here for almost a month, I think. Plus, he's still working on PDZ.
I'm going to dedicate work with the sedan (I am creating renderings for texture) to assign to each part of the car, I'll get the lights first and then for the rest, I'll try to do what it can with this model, but I need more pictures of this sedan to take as a reference.

I almost forgot, you can rip this scooter because I see Sleeping Dogs have a very decent motorcycles models.
