I released the 3D Object Converter v4.412 update. You can update your installed application (version>=4.0) quickly and easily using the auto-update function (Help/Check for updates…).
Im on it [editline]09:29PM[/editline] Well the converter works now i need to buy it :l
I think I can compile the static props myself, all I need is a texture as the textures are abit... iffy, as in I can't really convert them easily without a massive amount of work. If somebody wants the .max flies to texture then return to me, just PM me.
That'd be great, the bugs will need a propper rigger, as will the larger dropship from the look of it... but the weapons and the smaller dropship shouldn't.
:Gives the thread CPR: One Two Three PUSH.... One Two Three PUSH Its in the hands of nature now... We must wait..
What about the bug in the movie that blew fire, and it burned a SSTers arm off? Edit: The HUGE bug with the sack in the back.
the bug you are referring to is the tanker, a armored anti-infantry unit based off of several variety of beetle. the full sized arachnid tanker fist appears in the 3rd level of the sst: fps I belive, along with the hoppers. now if only some one can finish what they started or I will be one very sad panda....
Last I heard nova was still looking for a rigger.
Any news nova?
Hi, been watching this thread. Managed to get the tanker-ish thingy out. Unfortunately, it's really garbled (everything's meshed into one mass in the center). Plus, I only got it out in editable spline format, which when I try to convert to editable mesh/export to editable mesh, all the faces screw up and blow up. Will post pic later. E: If Nova cares/still is looking at this thread, I can animate.
I'm working on getting the models out as physical props, once I manage that, I will attempt to rig the ragdolls up to a skeleton, at that point any skill in animating would be much appreciated.
Woo hoo!
Well the converter works now i need to buy it :l
At January 2010 you can buy it through Paypal for $30 only (instead of $50) using the following code: Starship Troopers
... why buy a converter? Nova seems to be doing just fine ripping the files without it.
Let me start of saying the only reason I'm posting is because I really want to be part of the team. However I can't model, lua, or do crap. All I ask is that someone here could give me the finished file, maybe upload them to gmod.org? But this is the solution to my problem and I'll make whiskey outpost battle if I get the models, and then put it on youtube. :)
Anyone hear from nova?
I Think he's dumped the entire idea :ohdear: Hope he posts.
Can't do shit without a rigger, or texturer, or modeller. Also, kinda busy with my own personal coding project, 2D game engine.
Soooooooo, the entire ideas dead? Fucking hell this thread had potential.
I think I'd find a few good uses for the model, I was actually just playing with a friend's toy of one because I watched the movie and felt a bit of inspiration. ...also an ODST. close enough. I'm not sure about all the formats, but did anyone at least find a workable model I could toy with in 3ds, I wanna try and get some live-action shots or even video composits worked up with one of these. :v:
Soooooooo, the entire ideas dead? Fucking hell this thread had potential.
It's not dead, we just need people that can actually help with the modeling... nova was able to rip but that's as far as things are going to get without people with the know-how to rig and shit.
Anybody? :\
guess not [editline]10:45PM[/editline] nope
