The face and the scalp (head) also uses different normal maps and the edges would be really noticeable.
you can remake normal maps, use the nvidia plug in for PS
you can remake normal maps, use the nvidia plug in for PS
No, I mean, the heads have two textures, face and scalp. They use separate normal maps and source aren't made to be able to have two normalmaps right next to each other, as the edges would be really noticeable.
Plasmid, Haxxer does know what he's talking about. I'm not trying to be mean, but you're just making up advice.
Plasmid, Haxxer does know what he's talking about. I'm not trying to be mean, but you're just making up advice.
but you can blend the normal maps together or remake them, im not just trying to pull random advice out of nowhere im actualy speaking from what i've done in the past to get it done
Blend normal maps? How do you mean?
Plasmid, Haxxer does know what he's talking about. I'm not trying to be mean, but you're just making up advice.
Not really. There are ways to make it blend. I don't see why you think he just making it up, just because haxxer doing the ports, doesn't technically means he knows everything. Just saying.
if you cant blend the normal maps I highly suggest you just use the ME2 citizen heads since they are more HD and you can remake the normal maps, since the default aren't that good anyway, but hey im just suggesting here, hl2 heads are good to I just meant if you wanted a little more variety

Let's go way back in the conversation. Plasmid suggested new faces to be done out of the Mass Effect assets. That would require lots of time, given that faces in Mass Effect are done ingame so coloring and other variety stuff would have to be done manually. You're much better off just using the Half-Life faces.

Just sayin'.

My comment was just about the blend, nothing more, and you acting as if he knows everything, While others do not.
Edit
Just sayin' too.
I know far from everything. Hell, I'm a newbie at this stuff compared to most guys (DT, Nexus etc).
But if you're not telling me how I should blend normal maps, how can I improve and use them? :/

use me2 heads they dont need blending and if they do remake them, also make sure to weld parts of your models with lines on it or it will show up noticeably

On my Joker port I did weld the face and scalp together, and it is from ME2:

My point still stands, the normalmaps are the question here, not the models.

Now that's just fucking retarded. I never acted in such way. I just stated that I thought it was unpractical to do it the way plasmid suggested, and even though he was told so he kept pushing it. Don't you put words in my mouth.
I know its not the model cause that happened to me to, just remake the normal map
But there's two normal maps, as I've said 5 times now
Yeah, I vote it's the normal maps, it's the same way with the Vorcha.
Oh yeah, can i get an ETA on the Normandy (SR1) textures? Going to start turning both SR2 and SR1 meshes into props to make maps and such.

can you not see the picture? ok updated it then
I see no lighting, did you check Normal Mapping in HLMV?
I see no lighting, did you check Normal Mapping in HLMV?
yes, the normal map is checked, and HLMV doesnt really have lighting to a extent, but the normal map is working and with no lines
You can move around the light by holding ctrl and the left mouse button, try that

You should test it ingame :buddy:
