... I did not intend having an "offensive tone" or try sounding cool, I was wondering what you ment and since I knew that harbinger looked different in me3 I thought I should inform you. No need to make assumptions of what I said. :v: If I did cause offense I apologize.
why do i always manage to be a hypocrite apologies from my end too

but it does look like this! it's just the leg things are facing forward instead of backwards. Harbinger was based off of the "creators". They actually look more like Sovereign since they have the front leg thing.

The ME2 render looks more unique I prefer using that.
while the one in ME3 is clearly a reskinned "Sovereign" reaper, as Gor Feri pointed out, the hologram version in Arrival looks much more like the one in that data screen [t]http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BSC2pDaXQhE/Tb3f3zc16FI/AAAAAAAAB88/xpYGEeH4is4/s1600/Mass-Effect-2-Arrival-Shepard-Harbinger.jpg[/t] it even has giant space tentacles hanging about also this looks ultra cool [t]http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2012/067/0/1/mass_effect_2__unknown_reaper_model__by_troodon80-d4s3fuy.jpg[/t]
This is an unknown Reaper model from Mass Effect 2 (I wasn't aware there were any more aside from Harbinger and Sovereign actually in-game, and since I have yet to actually see this, I'll assume it is unused). Found in the BioD_N7Spdr1_500.pcc file.
why didn't they use that Harbinger in ME3? why reskin the 'inferior' model instead of using the actual thing?
I assume you mean Me3, but I have no clue. But It's definitely the one I want.
Since they redesigned the "sovereign" reapers for 3, they must've wanted to upgrade Harbinger's look too. Harbinger from 2 is much cooler and more interesting looking, but I'll bet it's lower on polycount and texture resolution. And then they cheaped out on making him a new unique model for 3.
also this looks ultra cool [t]http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2012/067/0/1/mass_effect_2__unknown_reaper_model__by_troodon80-d4s3fuy.jpg[/t]
This must be one of the other types they mention in the Codex but never show us. Troop transports or harvester ships or some such.
This must be one of the other types they mention in the Codex but never show us. Troop transports or harvester ships or some such.
it looks like a proper legit reaper to me, or at least it could function as one as far as the looks go
I assume you mean Me3, but I have no clue.
yeah sorry, was a typo
It is a real Reaper, in Me2, Reapers were supposed to have many different appearances, but with the same general shape.
Is it me, or does the unused Reaper model look similar to one of the reapers in the ending cutscene of Mass Effect 2? Skip to 8:10 in the video.
why didn't they use that Harbinger in ME3? why reskin the 'inferior' model instead of using the actual thing?
Well they did remake a lot of things like human/turian clothing for no reason other then that they thought they could be improved (or making them modernized is another explanation) and Harbinger was just one of those things that were "improved".
Is it me, or does the unused Reaper model look similar to one of the reapers in the ending cutscene of Mass Effect 2?
As far as I can tell, the one you call unused was never to be in the game files and was included by mistake. They only did it (and many more reapers that isn't in the game files) for the last scene, that's how I understand it anyway since it's a pre-made cutscene.
It is a real Reaper, in Me2, Reapers were supposed to have many different appearances, but with the same general shape.
and when i saw that they all were Sovereigns in ME3 i was severely disappointed but then again who wasn't
On another note; the Omega DLC trailer has been released. Looks really interesting, and with a ton of cool looking models: Modified Security Mechs Oleg Petrovsky (Cerberus Leader) New Reaper enemy Nyreen I'm definitely going to download this one.
Aria's cutscenes make me sleepy.
I spot an Aria romance in there
why is Aria's voice acting so god awful

Also a change from a coloured diffuse to a shader coloured one. Which generally looks worse but performs better. It's also why Me2 and me3 are swamped with post process shaders.
I wonder why cerberus went with the same military rank system with the stripes as the Alliance. I also wonder if it's possible to have a threesome with aria and the turian. :P
Considering Cerberus started out as an Alliance black ops group, i'd say it makes sense for the same rank system, they'd be used to it if any number of them are ex-alliance.
I finally did the whole Garrus set. I don't know about the Terminus one's phong 'cause I don't have the appearance pack and I don't know how it's supposed to look.
Thats probaly also why their ships look like modified Alliance cruisers.
Or, it could all be down to the fact BioWare just got lazy. I get the whole black ops thing sure.. but they could've gone with a different system. The one we have doesnt seem to make that much sense. I think they should've kept the cerberus casuals we see during the Jacob mission in ME3 exactly how they were in ME2 rather than updating both Alliance and Cerberus and keeping them looking the exact same. I guess I would've prefered them to keep the ME2's officer attire too as the actual cerberus getup and throw in at least a different placement for the ranks. Although I guess now we have the models.. if I ever get bored I could mess around with the stuff and do it myself.
I'd be surprised if Bioware actually put that much thought into the military structure of Cerberus, they probably just stick a title like 'General' on anyone as a generic military rank without actually thinking about it too hard. Joker's rank is Flight Lieutenant, and he's in the same branch as Commander Shepard and Admiral Anderson, yet i don't see you complaining about the Alliance mixing air force/navy ranks. In short, bioware probably don't actually research it/care enough to research and just use any rank that sounds cool.

Don't forget that Kaidan Alenko went from Lieutenant to Major -- and if they were keeping Alenko and Williams in the same pay grade (Williams became a Lt. Commander), which would be 0-4, that'd mean he would be a Marine as well, but then again, marines tend to serve alongside everyone, anyway. According to this page, they've more or less consolidated all of the branches into one unit, but retained Navy ranks on account of "ships," and a very old science-fiction standard, wherein the navy gets domain over deep-space military operations, while the air force has planet-side and orbit. And... being that, in space, they use pilot and helmsman interchangeably, the use of Flight Lieutenant for Joker's rank is not really any surprise. He did go to flight school, after all (how that qualifies him to pilot a ship in an environment where standard flight mechanics are meaningless has clearly been overlooked deliberately :v:). Oh, and we can't forget that physics are only constrained to reality when it's cinematic enough. Long story short, it doesn't seem like they actually came up with anything new. They just reused old, common stuff for this.

I've even gone to the efforts of coming up with an actual military system. The codex did get a few things wrong, Ashley was a marine when on Eden Prime and there was mention of Servicemen.. but Servicemen would be wrong as they'd be navy rather than marine and probably meant corpsman, Ashley also went from being a marine to being an officer in the navy. Kaidan goes from Staff Lt, to Staff Commander, to Major. These positions gives him command over marine units.. but as the codex says, the navy and marine are tightly connected. But yeah, I've complained about it here before.
Well, if no one is going to convert Starchild, can someone shoot me a link to a tutorial on doing it myself? I will if I have to!
Good luck with that... I tried it once. Once.
Vorchas, anyone? This is the first time I commented on the thread so I'm not sure.
