I love the design of it, and can easily see it meshing well with the old armours. (fuck that new tacticool crap)
My only problem is the details are comparatively low tech and p. uninspired looking. It looks less like some idyllic, elegant, distant future technology and more like a gritty nearfuture cyberpunk design.

I was honestly expecting them to be using those blue tech things Joker used at the beginning of ME2, or perhaps Jack's mask. So it's pretty awesome they actually made something this time. I would've loved to see new casual clothing or different tech from each species rather than everyone and their mother using the same thing.. but I guess it's expecting too much :P

The design actually does remind me a little bit of Joker's emergency mask, but a hell of a lot more armor and survivability.

I've always found the "breather masks" to look really goofy, and their supposed explanation for how that's even internally consistent is that it's their shield generator and/or biotic barrier maintaining pressure and safe conditions. (that and hand-waving the fact they wanted their faces to show for conveying emotion, even though if it's a character wearing armour they'll have a helmet, and some of the breathers cover the whole face anyway so uhhhh)
...Of course, if your shield were to break it'd be life threatening within moments, especially on an inhospitable planet; At best it would make sense as a last resort, such as with joker at the start of ME2.
