Here's a few props I've ported from SWAT 4 (that game is a goldmine of props): Is there any way to get both a $bumpmap and a $selfillum for the same material?
they aren't exclusive this should work.
"vertexlitGeneric" { "$baseTexture" "models\sm\lasgun\lasgun_dif" "$bumpmap" "models\sm\lasgun\lasgun_nrm" "$normalmapalphaenvmapmask" 1 "$envmap" "env_cubemap" "$envmaptint" "[ 0.2 0.2 0.2 ]" "$envmapsaturation" ".01" "$envmapcontrast" "0.1" //"$envmapFresnel" "1" "$phong" "1" "$phongexponenttexture" "models\sm\ig\armor_exp" //"$phongexponent" 30 "$phongboost" "15" "$phongfresnelranges""[ .3 1.2 8]" "$PhongAlbedoTint" "1" $selfillum 1 }
Works fine
I decided to hack the M4 into an M16A4: And updated M4 a bit too: Some other weapon pics:

Now I need a head model for it, some rough, probably bearded, trucker kinda guy, anyone got any ideas? And it's meant to be a zombie apocalypse survivor kinda guy.

Male_08 with a beard might work too.
Put Ellis' head or the Helicopter pilot from L4D's head on it.
Ellis is kinda too recognizable and the pilot is really low poly and low quality. [editline]30th August 2012[/editline]
Male_08 with a beard might work too.
I was hoping not to use citizens but if I can't think of anything I'll probably go with something like that.
These crysis marines have unfamiliar faces: http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=121213 Or maybe this head: http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=120540
Dusty from MoH 2010? He kinda reminds me of a trucker.
Why not Father Grigori's head?
It always looked to me that the helicopter pilot used a modified version of Male_08's head anyways.

Please do this. [editline]30th August 2012[/editline] Please.
Dusty from MoH 2010? He kinda reminds me of a trucker.
I was thinking Dusty as well. Assuming this guy is Dusty. If he's not Dusty, then, well, I was thinking of this guy. :v: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1025655

Wow Simkas. That looks pretty cool.

Well, the G3 was based off StG 44, but in a better way than AK.
Well, the G3 was based off StG 44, but in a better way than AK.
wrong, not one of the three firearms you named is even close to each other. either learn your facts or don't pretend you know what you're talking about
I need some help with a Silver sword that I'am porting from Skyrim. The sword in Skyrim looks like this: I was wondering if I could simulate the same effect in Source using a Normal Map and a so called Specular map or Enviroment map... can't tell the difference. I used the L4D2 M60 .vmt because it seemed to do the same thing to the its model:
"VertexlitGeneric" { $basetexture "models/witcher/silversword" $phong 1 $phongboost 10 $phongfresnelranges "[.1 .4 1]" $basemapalphaphongmask 1 $basemapalphaenvmapmask 1 $envmap env_cubemap $envmapfresnel 1 $envmapFresnelMinMaxExp "[0 5 .4]" $envmaptint "[.5 .5 .5]" $phongalbedotint 1 }
This is how it looks in GMod: I need to make it atleast similar to the one in Skyrim. The sword mod link: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/16991#content
wrong, not one of the three firearms you named is even close to each other. either learn your facts or don't pretend you know what you're talking about
It's obvious that AK and most of post-war german rifles were based off StG. G3 was based off StG45, which was a modified version of StG 44. And it's been stated many times that AK was inspired by StG (or, to be exact, the MkB 42). If you don't believe me, then compare these weapons and you will see the resemblance.

If you don't believe me, then compare these weapons and you will see the resemblance.
take the rifles apart and you will see that you are full of shit. they look similar in layout because there is no fucking reason to change a layout that works. internally they are completely different. if you knew the first thing about guns, you would realise that implying a roller locked rifle, a tilting block rifle, and a rotating bolt rifle are the same thing is literally the dumbest thing in the world. i suppose bolt actions and semiautos are also the same thing if they look externally similar, right? dolt. e/ i severely doubt you've even handled a weapon outside games, so i suppose i should have known you'd think that just because something looks similar, it is similar. as someone who handles weapons regularly, including at a fucking small arms museum, shut up and quit spewing misinformation.
Well, the G3 was based off StG 44, but in a better way than AK.
Actually the G3 was based off the Spanish CETME which was based off the German StG45 which is not internally related at all to the StG44, but rather a progression of development in the sense of using simple internals and stamped production resources. The FN FAL has more in common with the StG44, both of which use a tilting block action, versus the G3 and StG45 which uses a roller-locked action. The AK reference is irrelevant because the AK was not even based on the StG but rather inspired by it in the capacity of what the StG44 served as, which was a more effective automatic assault weapon chambered in an intermediate rifle caliber versus the pistol caliber chambered submachine guns which had shorter effective ranges. The AK uses a two lug rotating bolt and was more influenced by the Remington Model 8 (one of the first semi-automatic rifles) and the M1 Garand (which influenced the AK trigger group.) Kalashnikov himself cited both of those aforementioned rifles as his inspiration. The control and design layouts of the StG44 and the AK47 are similar but that's where their similarities end. On top of that, the Germans got their gas system from the SVT40 which was a Soviet semi-auto rifle. So it was really more, the Germans copying the Russians technology to develop new weapons which in turn caused the Russians to develop their own counterpart. The StG44, G3, and AK47, are in no way related to each other beyond sharing simple concepts of purpose. I suggest that you check yourself before you wreck yourself.
Why is this becoming a weapon wikipedia thread?
because there is nothing worse than someone stating blatant drivel and passing it off as fact. ignorance spawns more ignorance.
Why is this becoming a weapon wikipedia thread?
Because as Ross stated before me, people spreading misinformation brings down the collective knowledge of the subject at hand. There's already enough stupid myths, misinformation, and outright ignorance in the US regarding firearms, ammunition, and their respective histories. The least I can do is try to educate people. I apologize for derailing the thread but these sorts of things are a peeve of mine.
