Does anyone here have a modified version of Studiomdl to compile high poly models, or even the fakefacory version would be really nice. I'm working on a modelbut it's a bit over 64k and I can't compile it.
Edit:
Actually I can compile models over 70k polies but when I add the last part that is 12k it does that :
everything: 1352944 bytes
ERROR: 'EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION' (assert: 1)
ERROR: Aborted Processing on 'Red Orchestra 2/Germans/Vehicles/PanzerIVAusfG.mdl'
I don't know why it's doing that but it's really annoying.

Also, I want to ask a few questions regarding skinning/rigging/ect.
When I rig for playermodels I wanted to know if there are any better/faster ways of fitting a mesh to an existing skeleton? So far this is my process (3Dsmax):
1. Import mesh and do a rough scale on the whole thing.
2. Select verticies on left arms/legs via soft select in combination with "working pivot" aligned to whatever bone I need scale/movement reference.
(now if the model is perfectly symmetrical I just symmetry modifier it, otherwise if the body has non symmetrical parts like ammo pouches:
3. Delete the right side arms legs Create detached copy of arms/legs copy I have worked on to fit the skeleton, and mirror it to the other side.
Weld the mirrored arm/leg, fix smoothing issues.
4. Skin the model with skin modifier. Use mirror vertices when done all the weighting. Then do final weighting cleanup. Finished for export
Second question for people who have done bodygroups:
How would you go about skinning models with say armour/clothing changes? The meshes have to be separate to what Ive been told, but that means unwelded seams which become problematic when skinning. For example if I set a falloff around one of these joints, the thigh detaches from the pelvis or shoulder detaches from the upperarm. Further problems arise when i cant use ring or loop because most of these models are all triangulated. Lastly, is there ways to hide part of the model while using the skin modifier? When working with certain stuff things get obscured when I try to select verts to set weights.
Gentlemen. We have a badass here.

I'm ATTEMPTING to port some black ops models, but so far the physics have been fucked up
I trolled source and achived the impossible. My models didn't want to compile because it was "too complex" it was giving me the Exception error at the end of the compile, I realised it made the all the files and then deleted them because it's dumb so at the second the file was compiled (before the error message) I moved the files out and then after the error I added them back in and it works. Source you will not win against me! Pictures soon.
as a bonus due to taking so long on these BLR models I'm remaking the BL:TD Order/Blacklight dudes

However errors still like to pop up, these guy's feet don't work right (but I know why that is), the illumination is wierdly missing some bits (see white on the one guy's headset/backpack), and now the normal maps for the gear are deciding to screw me, lol
Should hopefully fix them sooner or later and get them released, but for now I should get back to hacking up the Blacklight and trying to fix these fucking arm physics

You're missing a bone or two, basically the physics files your using has more bones than the model has.. so yeah.
I've been working on the Aspen again. this time, I've gotten all of the bodywork done, so I'm working on a few variants. I redid the '07 Durango, and an '05 one is on the way. From left to right: 2007 Dodge Durango Police Package, stock 2007 Chrysler Aspen, and a dropped custom Chrysler Aspen.

I'm going to do the police and custom models as separate models rather than bodygroups since I want to have the doors be openable, as well as deal with different suspension and the like. Also notable: the Aspen custom has an 18 speaker sub box in the back that makes me feel retarded for putting it in there, because it leaves no seating room in the back, period. I think it'd be safe to call that thing the boom box.
