My I ask how you do the painted lighting? I assume you just add lights then adjust them and bake the texture with said lights.

It's his model actually.
Trying out a different color scheme.

Yep. I then add that to the diffuse texture and also use an illumination map. In Marmoset I also added point lights for reflections.

The metal is solid, but I'm not a fan of the handle texture.
It appears no one is. Not sure what to substitute it for though.

Try something like this, but no so exaggerated.

It's not about the texture, but more about both the scale of it and lack of any sort of grip or seam. Try making it look like two inserted plates along a metal frame, instead of trying to make it look like a single shaped piece.

Something I've been working on between work and school. Kinda crappy right now, but It's getting there. It's a 1995 Chevrolet S10 Blazer.

That's true, but I'm not a fan of the texture either.
Kept the texture, added metal.

Really nice texture work man.
Here's and update on the type97 if anyone is interested.

This is early wip, so I know the texture is crap.
Texture is crap? Are you fucking kiddng me?
Awesome work.
I feel like people shit all over their work because they think other's will shit all over it as well... Come on people! If you're going to post it, then you must think its good in someway.
i somewhat agree, but if you have a keen eye, you should know your work is shit
It's like the girls on the web. "I will say that I look like shit, and everybody will say compliments to me anyways".

Yeah. That's what I see in it. Its more of a grab for attention and sympathy. However, that doesn't make you a bad person. Just kinda makes it seem like whatever you make, you're never satisfied with.

Yeah, but there is nothing wrong with having pride in your work and letting other's take a few shots at it. I definitly know I have a lot of work to still do to be good at skinning. But I feel that my work is pretty good for a rookie.

I feel it is a built in emotional cushion that is very common. No one wants to be directly told that there is shit but not having great expectation before you post it makes it better. Its like posting a shit low poly thing you made compared to something like what Fewes did can be a bit intimidating.
For me, the model is awesome. Would be great to see this in SOURCE.
Also, textures are better than anything I made so far.
scars aren't usually that deep, they're either rather shallow or sticks out a tiny bit

Could have been done with a red-hot sword or such, burn scars usually stay pretty deep because of the instant coagulation

So yeah, I know its just a door, but thats one of the sexiest 3D doors I've ever seen! Awesome, I love the woody feeling I get from it!
Hehehe, "Woody"...
