It's a standalone mini-engine.

30-days trial. Awww.
Like always, the perfection costs money. Thanks anyway. It looks very useful.
Wait, toolbag costs money now? I still have the free version somewhere.
Would be nice to have the free one.

Same. Also, another question.
Step by step i´m improving my models and animations (animations are just 100% robotic), but there is a skill that i´m unable to improve: texturing (or 2D art, whatever you call).
I´m using Paint.Net, and the tutorials about it are very scarce. Looks like that Gimp have more, but i dont like it (apart of the strange way of use, you really NEED to download plugins in order to make it useable), and Photoshop, well, i cant buy it.
I would glad recieve tips and tricks, as well as if there are more free image editors that allows you make a quality texture.

I think theres a famous bay somewhere which could help you out, not sure where it is though sorry.
No thanks. I dont support piracy. If i have 3DS max 2010, is because i have the luck of getting a key when Autodesk did that free version for students.
I don't 'support' piracy either, but when these tools cost thousands (excluding Marmo) and 90% of us use and learn these tools so we can actually get a job and earn money when we're older, how are we supposed to afford the stuff which we need to learn in order to earn money? Unless you save up for pretty much all your teen years or have some pretty cool parents, you wont. Free student deal for 3DS is good no doubt, but what about all the other software out there? You won't get hired just having knowledge of 3DS.
It's not the best way of doing things obviously, but I still feel like I have a fair point here.
In my opinion, if you're not using it for commercial use, just personal use, it's justifiable to pirate the programs.
Justifiable, but not legal, I don't support it, it's immoral, etc. etc. linux distros etc.

You mean the pirate cove? It's one blody dangerous side of the sea, hur hur hur!
Working on a PPK.

The front part can suck my dick.
That's pretty. Give it a silencer so James Bond can use it.
yay for decent models, normal maps and shaders for making my texturing job not look shite.

I've already closed max, so no better pics are available.

Plus if you live in a country where your currence isn't dollars or euros (sad for me) it's a lot more harder. So yeah. It's not "evil" if you pirate some programs for your own personal use. Though if it's for commmercial use you could get f*cked. It's like the developers aren't going to even say of the consequences if you buy their products "Here is a trial and here is a full version for 1 mother flippin' million dollars... or euros just please don't cry when your OS can't install it properly.".

You could improve the texture greatly by adding AO.

You have a seam running down one of the most important faces, I also spot normal map errors.

Okay. I've finished building the Blazer. Since last time it's received new wheels, a new steering wheel, several parts have been cleaned up and better optimized, and the door cut has been fixed(it was too high before). It's also received a set of badges(see doors).
Plans from here: smooth it(still figuring that one out) and hopefully get 3DS max installed(lots of installation bugs, student edition) so my friend can teach me how to rig and animate this sucker to be a drivable vehicle. I also need to figure out how to make several texture groups, so I can have higher-res textures. Pain in ass. I like the color though.
What program are you using?
What program are you using?
Three programs, actually. Blender, Milkshape, and Sketchup.
Blender for the bulk of the modeling, Milkshape just because I want to learn the ins and outs of the program, and sketchup for simple edits on the go(only one that works well with my laptop due to the trackpad setup, trying to save money so I haven't gotten a portable mouse yet). A lot of importing, exporting, and putting the model between two different computers.
It still blows my mind why people use Sketchup to model, do I not know about some awesome feature it has or something?

Two things: one, the uncluttered interface, and two, it works well with a Macbook's trackpad.
Blender works well on a windows machine, but requires a three-button mouse to be effective. Milkshape, if I'm not mistaken, works with those constraints and is exclusive to windows.

Thanks for making my life less shitty.
I'm quite happy with how this is going so far, I'm going to try and continue that type of feel for the rest of the weapon, and probably tone down the dirt a little.

oh, and I'll try to fix those.

That's really pretty, if not excessive. Something else looks off about it, but I can't quite place it. Might be the specularity color.
Did you bake that grip pattern from the high poly?
[editline]28th April 2012[/editline]
I don't really like how clear the boundaries are from the dirt to the clean bits. Why is it even so dirty?

The boundaries of where the dirt is, is kinda too noticable. However, if you think about it, the places that have the most contact with your hands will be the most worn away, so dirt won't really have the appertunity to build up on the areas such as the mag release, selector switch, grip. Maybe you should just ligthen up the dirty so it doesn't seem like it was perfectly outlined. Have it start strong in the center and fade outwards based on how much those areas come in contact with your hands.
Thank you for the feedback guys, I'll tone down the dirt a little and see what it looks like, I don't want to tone it down too much because everything is catered towards the player, and I feel like you have to slightly exaggerate dirt so the player picks up on it from that angle. Like for example Racer445 makes his dirt red so it almost looks like clay, but from a distance it actually sells as dirt.
