So I'm not the only one that hates how that's what the majority of posts in this section are now? Kind of wish there was a different section for original modeling so we can easily see what shit to ignore.

I don't think a lot of the things modeled here are headed to GMOD any time soon anyways. Not that I mean "leave" but I feel like it's a better place, maybe some of the older members could talk to some higher-ups and get a 3D section in the arts forums?
Finally managed to make something simple in Maya, a battery! Ignore the bump going along it, accidentally messed up halfway through and didn't notice. Guess I'll try and do a sword now.

I had no idea there was another section for that. plus people in here seem cool

It would be nice to have a section for original models not relating to Gmod.
It would be nice to have a section for original models not relating to Gmod.
I thought that was this thread, mostly. I see a lot of cool high poly renders in here that never see the light of day in the Source engine.
It would be nice to have a section for original models not relating to Gmod.
I do as well as a lot of the time I make stuff that never goes anywhere, but I am pretty sure that should go to the digital art thread but even then that isn't for wips. Tau is best race.

Model looks really good, I love the look of the kind of plates making up the body. The handle looks kinda strange though, like it would be incredibly uncomfortable.

I tried to stay as close to the actual figure as possible.
Nirrti's model, my demented texture work. Comes in new, aged, bloody, zombie flick, and antlion.
That's a really nice blade.
I haven't posted anything in awhile. I modeled two rebel troopers Standard trooper and snow trooper. The design is based off the force unleashed. They are for a mod I am working with. The faces unfortunately I used face gen for, back when I modeled them I didn't know how to model faces, I do now so I might go back and redo them. I didn't model pants because I don't like them. [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11830984/pictures/modeling/Anime_render_jacket.png[/img_thumb]
man, i love the whole snow armor designs for the Imperials and the Rebels. turrets, trenches, underground/caverns, tunnels, bases, and generators. savage Wampas, fast vigilant tauntauns. giant machines and war vehicles. makes war on Hoth so intense.
What did you do those in?
I modeled in XSI and textured in photoshop, normals are done in mudbox and rendered in MarmosetToolbag.
I decided to dick around with blend tinting. Now colorable with the color tool because why not. [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/21161113/cs_assault0003.jpg[/t]

I'm still learning but here's a quick attempt at making the London 2012 Olympic Torch. I know it's completely hollow but having the fuel cage thing at the top really didn't look good in-game.
I'm still learning but here's a quick attempt at making the London 2012 Olympic Torch.
One of my friends was lucky enough to run with that in my area, you get to keep it too so he let me hold it and have a look at it and stuff.

This was him running through a part of Rhyl.
I'm currently working on my first model so i can import it into UDK. Does anyone know the best way to unwrap UVW this arc? Could really do with some advise of you guys, seeing as i always see you guys creating awesome models. Large screenshot: http://filesmelt.com/dl/Screenshot_01.png
You can planar unwrap the whole thing, just use the relax tool for the inside and outside faces.
I still feel like I'm modelling completely wrong, but I made a couple more models today and just built a quick scene
I like those tall concrete barricades.
So I thought I would try my hand at skinning. Here's some SCP Foundation class D uniforms. Yeah I know it's pretty simple but since its my first skin, I thought I would start with something basic.
