Hey my friend is struggeling with this texture and i figured you guys might be able to help with feedback on this texture. thanks for the feedback!
I'm having trouble figuring out what the material of the body is, not sure if it's metal or plastic. I think that can be determined by how shiny he makes it, and the damage on the specular. I think it could do with a little more damage or definition.
I don't think it needs a lot of damage on the specular, but you're right on determining what it's made out of.
think that's too much detail on the diffuse, make it a bit weaker and make a strong spec map instead? It's mostly the blade I don't like
the blade was like that before if youll notice, i haven't reskinned the surface of it yet (although i added some wear around the sides)
oh you didn't say it was a WIP, all good then.

Obama's way to save america from crisis!
oh you didn't say it was a WIP, all good then.
(Still haven't done that part but) I'd like some input on what looks better Regular diffuse: [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1482927/berettaafter.jpg[/t] Or defuse with noise removal applied to give it a smoother look, while keeping full detail on specular: [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1482927/berettaafter SMOOTH.jpg[/t] [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1482927/specview.jpg[/t]

All in all I like the skin a lot, I wonder how you create those scratched edges and have them look subtle. My attempts always turn out terrible.
i was using a tablet for previous ones to draw it with some nice brushes but the past few i've been using the mouse, i'm just a lot more comfortable drawing things with a mouse right now its all about knowing how to scatter it about to not make it look so obviously fake. i still have a lot to learn about this but id like to think im alright at doing that
Hey my friend is struggeling with this texture and i figured you guys might be able to help with feedback on this texture. thanks for the feedback! [t]http://carlrp.com/showimages/printer_show_texture.png[/t]
Main problem right now is that the texture is completely flat and in the same color. Try giving it some edge definition or just get some general values in there. The specularity is also way too sharp (I'm assuming he wants it to be made out of metal). Depending on how worn he wants it to look the specular map could also use some texture detail. Maybe something like this (except not as messy)? [t]http://puu.sh/NCmU[/t]
Power plant. Note that I can't UV for shit and this is from the Unique Uvs texture projection for XSI so this isn't getting textured any time soon some sort of barracks
Not much in it but I prefer the second one Rusty

bottom left glass looks way cool
Another fun random low-rez prop done and done.
what's the texture resolution because those yellow parts look really blurry. You could try applying an Unsharpen filter in Photoshop.

Blurriness is generally what happens when you make something lower resolution.
what's the texture resolution because those yellow parts look really blurry. You could try applying an Unsharpen filter in Photoshop.
It's 512x512, with the majority of the UV being dedicated to the front end. I think the whole thing is less then 1MB, model included. It's supposed to be a light source model for a dark and dank sewer so the chances of you seeing it that close up ever are slim to none. I just figure every model deserves at least one picture dedicated to it before it gets relegated to a generally unnoticed role.

There's so many things wrong with that AR15, but everything else looks sexy.
if you could point out some specifics that would be really great
That rocket looks awesome. Are you using it for anything?
if you could point out some specifics that would be really great
The forward assist is too small, the fencing on the magwell is a little too small too and the top horizontal bar should extend all the way to the front pin hole, as it holds a spring and a little lump that stops the front pin coming all the way out when you take the gun apart, the front pin part is also the wrong shape, and the ejection port area has a few lumps that shouldn't be there. Since pictures speak a thousand words, here are some decent quality reference pictures for the body. I'm working on a classic series Dalek. Can anyone guess what kind it is?
Some bits like the plunger and the eye don't need to be so low poly as they're fairly prominent features.
Some bits like the plunger and the eye don't need to be so low poly as they're fairly prominent features.
Well it is a WIP, I'll get everything modeled first and then make necessary optimization later. I want to keep it relatively low poly. Right now it's sitting a little under 2,500 polys.
As someone that's never watched Dr. Who, it still baffles me that something like that is supposed to look menacing and dangerous. It is supposed to be menacing and dangerous right?
As someone that's never watched Dr. Who, it still baffles me that something like that is supposed to look menacing and dangerous. I admit, it's approximately 20-40% more menacing now that it has a gun of some sort instead of a toilet plunger.

Hey everyone. This summer time, I decided to learn to make models and import them in GMOD (and possibly SFM). After making some simple models, learning how to use 3DSmax, and finding out how to import them, I decided to start making real models. 2 weeks later, I nearly completed this: Controller is based on the Street Fighter 4 Madcatz fightstick: [IMG_THUMB]http://www.thebuzzmedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/mad-catz-arcade-fight-stick-sfiv-high-res.jpg[/IMG_THUMB] (Even though I use a TvC Wii Fightstick for reference.) I'm planning to make more controllers (maybe different Mice and Keyboards too) with different skins included in each. I'm having fun with this, and I can't wait until I'm finished with the project and make it downloadable for everyone. Also, it took me 2 days to figure out how to make phongs. :v:
Add more detail to the body.
