baked!

time to add details with nDo2
i realize that you probably don't care but current container designs are pretty much the pinnacle.
a square container is the best shape for shipping anything except for large numbers of tanks because the vast majority of things that are shipped are flat on the bottom. your container has a lot of space that's useless because it's part of the sides and therefore sloped, meaning things can't be stacked there. square containers can also be stacked vertically, which this cannot be. this would have to be stacked in a pyramid in any situation with gravity assuming the doors were all facing the same direction, which is the best way to stack containers for a lot of reasons.
the one thing i can see this shape being useful for is for shipping large numbers of tanks on a space freighter because hexagons will tessellate and a hexagon has less wasted space than a square if a pressure cylinder is placed inside it.
anyway

Yeah I knew about that, I just didn't want to make a common, rectangular container. At first I was going for some sort of scifi-ish liquid container with and hexagonal frame/supports but I ended up with that (I'll probably go and make that liquid container with the same frame and proportions).
It might be due to the render, but some of your edges look very strange.
Yeah I think it's just the material he applied.
Got the low poly finished at 2,050 triangles:

why put the circle indents in there? they'll prolly read just as well just baked in the normal map and they probably skyrocket the polycount, which you could distribute to better defining the parts that the eye would go to most ingame (front screen face and keyboard surface). it will also probably bake kinda weirdly.

Weighty
Edit: anybody got any advice on how to make it look more real with leathery skin and stuff?

Thanks for the tips. Here is the update. Current tri count is 1748.

Look at the dick on the first one
There are still some kinks I need to work out but here's the low poly with normal map.

You wouldn't happen to be inspired by this thing, would you?

I was thinking more like mass effect ish but i do love rage

a lot

Uses a Diffuse, Normal, Specular, Opacity( in engine will deal with this automatically), and Illumination map. Tried making it look like a metal surface.

Same as before a couple pages back but I bothered to mess with the specular.

Aside from the slightly lacking story and somewhat linear gameplay, Rage is one of my favourite games, purely because of the absolutely beautiful art style and fantastic gameplay.

think im gonna remove the tile outlines. they just segment everything up too much.

Where are you rendering these? An actual engine might show normals etc. better.
Kept myself busy by making this RPG styled grenade launcher type thing:

a class project (two classes actually), but i plan on making it a full game when the quarter is over.

Are you planning on using this for anything?

Might make it into a grenade skin for CSS or CSGO
never worked with global offensive before, so that might be interesting.
The actual shell looks like this:

wait, so that's not for tf2? x_x

That's nothing like the tf2 art style.
if you removed the detailed wood on the barrel and threw some paint splotches everywhere, it would fit perfectly IMO

Brush strokes and color pallet are what make it off imo.
