I couldn't find another place to ask this, but this thread seemed the most relevant. Say I want to make a material for a model that's supposed to be glass. Is there any way to make a believable glass object in Source that can be used as a prop? I'm having difficulty trying to make something that doesn't look like a flat non-refractive piece of shit.
I think this edge could be smoother: [IMG]http://horobox.reager.org/u/Haxxer_1361835636.jpg[IMG] It's way too sharp if you want to have it on a normal map, the second image shows how edgy and hard it becomes. If you loosen it up a bit might give it a bit smoother effect, even from further away.
Thanks for the info, but I know how to do high-poly modeling. The reason why the edges are so tight, is mainly because I've rushed the modeling so I can move on to other projects sooner.
So this was my first go at creating my own textures using Zbrush. It was actually a lot of fun! though it took fucking forever to carve out those bricks. I might take another go at it in the near future and hopefully have something a bit better. Also might try a retopologized model of the bricks for a tiled model as well :v: [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/EmJgj6.jpg[/t]

From what I've learned so far it's more about how you use the tools rather than what tools you have, for example the trim dynamic brush will make stone or wood depending on how you use it. This was made using trim dynamic mostly.

I love how you did your wood, i need to get better at wood. wood.
I can't count with you guys...sad
That particular asset was made by my friend James, he loves hard wood.

I don't understand the last one, is he stabbing himself with something?
I don't understand the last one, is he stabbing himself with something?
the first swing is a miss, the second one is a hit (he has stabbed something and needs the other hand to pull the knife out)
the first swing is a miss, the second one is a hit (he has stabbed something and needs the other hand to pull the knife out)
Oh okay, looks great except it looks like he is holding the knife between his two fingers. Of course I am on college computers typing up an essay so it will probably be more clearly on my widescreen laptop.
those two fingers are actually four fingers wrapped over on top and a thumb on bottom
