Oh fuck you man, if you think I'm the rude one you should see the damn steam messages.
..yeah? Where are those? Don't make claims you can't back up. So far you have been completely in the wrong. Your going to need proof from here on out.
..yeah? Where are those? Don't make claims you can't back up.
Well how bout' you ask whistlebridges, it ain't like I can go back in time and copy those logs.
He asks for proof and you insult him. I don't know about the rest of you lot, but i'm rooting for TFA here.
Alright I'm sorry, at this point I'm just extremely irritated right now and mad. But I don't have the logs, but I don't like getting cornered out like this and made out to look like a piece of shit. I understand now I fucked up, I'm sorry. [editline]4th January 2017[/editline] And don't go making dumb ratings on my post TFA, I'm just trying to diffuse this right now before it gets overboard.
Dude, we get it. You're angry because your stuff got taken down without warning and got banned from the community. But there's no need to start lashing out at people just because they want confirmation for your side of the story. When you're outed as a liar, the worst thing you can do is keep lying. I'll say this though. After reading the logs above as well as that rule TFA generously highlighted for all of us, you really should've seen this coming.
I saw a really great copyright crash course somewhere a while back that covers a lot of these things. I'll try to find it, but the gist really just is 'don't republish (any derivate works of) it unless you have explicit written permission to do precisely that'.
Here's a video course on YouTube (a bit more than an hour in total): https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8dPuuaLjXtMwV2btpcij8S3YohW9gUGN If you don't mind reading, you can most likely get this information faster from http://guides.lib.utexas.edu/copyright or especially its tutorial at http://copyright.lib.utexas.edu/tutorial/. Everyone who publishes creative works really needs to read up on this stuff. This goes doubly so for software development of any kind, since in this area we heavily rely on creating derivative works. We use a variety of licenses to streamline this, but even with them in place you need to obey the underlying legal framework.
Oh fuck you man, if you think I'm the rude one you should see the damn steam messages. If I see that I fucked up now then I'm going to admit I fucked up I ain't gonna hide it. I see the things he sent, I'll take it with a grain of salt but I'll stand out and apologies. But we're all real emotional here right now, waking up to see I get a ban ain't something that I sure as shit enjoy, but if I see that I actually did something wrong then I apologies for being arrogant.
You aren't doing yourself any favors with your responses.

I have a shitty thing wrong with me when someone tells me to do something to my addons and I become an arrogant asshole for it. The first part isn't an excuse though, seeing as how TFA explained the issue with that already early on. You should have made true on that threat of contacting your lawyer, because they'd have told you to just take it down to avoid trouble.
I'm simply just trying to stop the arguing on this thread and apologies.
It's doing the opposite. You really shouldn't allege something without having proof ready. [editline]edit[/editline] If you don't have the latter you can only win an argument by convincing your opponent or by public opinion, and that requires skill that you currently don't have. (It would be pretty much impossible at this point anyway though.) You haven't even ([editline]edit[/editline] properly) apologised at all so far afaict, which at this point may seriously be in order if you want to save some shreds of your credibility. (Hopefully you'll take this as the well-meaning suggestion I intend it as.)
I made a mistake and for that I'm sorry. I ask if this thread is locked, for now I just gotta worry about getting unbanned. I'm sorry.
I made a mistake and for that I'm sorry. I ask if this thread is locked, for now I just gotta worry about getting unbanned. I'm sorry.
Your not getting unbanned. It's automated. You got a DMCA because you didn't know / understand the rules. Since it was legitimate, there is nothing you can do.
The thing is that I only wanted to combine the base the the sweps that way players don't have to download multiple things, I seen the way people complain on Workshop about having to download more required content to get something to work, a guy like me I thought I was just trying to be cutting edge. I only combined his base to the weapons I uploaded so that way players all they have to do is subscribe and play.
Let me give you some advice here. As absolutely dickish and cynical as this is going to sound, trying to please the gmod workshop community by being innovative in how you package your things, or even just putting things up in general, is an arduous task that gets harder and more unbearable every day because of it's userbase. I'm not talking about the content creators such as pretty much everyone here in this thread, i'm talking about 13 year old Billy using his dad's computer to download FNAF ports to use on his Five Nights at Garry's RP server. You can't be cutting edge because whenever you put up an upload that's in parts, you'll always get users complaining about how broken it is despite the fact they only have one damn part of it downloaded. That's pretty much why I quit uploading things to the workshop permanently. I just didn't feel like opening up 50+ messages of assholes harassing me and making threats because I didn't make my generic bad guys playermodels or NPCs. I mean this is just purely me talking from the experience i've had when dealing with them. I am sure, and hope, that none of you have to put up with this shit either so I don't know, maybe i'm wrong here. That said, in my opinion it would've been innovative to just upload the code to make the SWEP work, so that way there wouldn't be a quasi-duplicate upload on the workshop. tl;dr gmod workshop kiddies are always gonna complain because they can't figure shit out, no use in trying to please them.
okay. weird way to solve things. nasty, but a way to get rid of the faulty code. correct. you coulda explained it tho... @tfa. i see you tried, but... yeah... didn't work. @devilsown and it looks like you don't and gotta understand what tfa asked for. the software version conflict. if you don't wanna upgrade your wepaons to the new code and include and mod an old base you gotta clone the entire plugin, rename and change the whole structure it in a way it can't be loaded from within the other version or the other version could load an old file. the problem is if another weapon uses the tfa base and because source uses the first found code file it could load your old file (with the same name) first and it breaks the weapon which would work if the updodate version of the code would be loaded first. it's a problem in the way and order exlusively 'duplicate structured' files are loaded and used. the first found is not always the correct one. about this owner things (which are not really the topic) you know there's even a contributor invitation button for the quick credits. now... you gotta wait for the support to get this. you know it's slow. /2cent
okay. weird way to solve things. nasty, but a way to get rid of the faulty code.
You should use the "Reply" button below instead of using @'s. Anyways, it's not scummy, nasty or awful to create a DMCA claim after you repeatedly ask the author to either take it down or remove the TFA content and use the Steam Workshop "compatible with" option. I don't know if anyone mentioned but these addons conflicted with other TFA addons because of the copy paste content it had in it from TFA Base, mainly the Lee Enfield was the most reported for breaking the TFA CS:GO pack, you can't just allow an addon to break yours, especially when it has your code in it.
I don't think anything more needs to be said here.
