I personally loved Duke Nukem Forever. Enjoyed every moment of it. Yeah, it wasn't the best game i've ever played by a longshot but I still had fun during my time playing it.

That's actually kind of irrelevant. Franchises can survive a LOT of abuse and still get tons of attention, even if their reputation has been completely trashed. Plus DNF has a ton of excuses for how it turned out. If presented with another Duke Nukem game a lot of people will use these excuses to justify their interest, even if Gearbox were to announce they were doing something unbelievably retarded with it.
