Hi Ginev! You'll need to search for and download the latest version of MPQEdit which will allow you to open up the .mpq archives containing all the game assets. The archives will be located under program files on your PC. Once opened, you'll have to manually scroll through multiple folders to get both the models/meshes but also to get the related textures. It's tedious and slow but if you focus it won't take any longer than maybe a few minutes for each asset. Feel free to ask more questions here if you want, I'll do my best to help you.
Thanks for the info.Ill try it.
I need a favor. Apparently the 1.5 patch of legacy of the void or another update, eliminated the mods folder that kept the mqos in them. I'm wondering if anyone were willing to share copies of theirs so i can begin extraction of the models.
WOuld that be possible to tranfsrom at least a hydralisk into an obj file with tga textures (as the tools do not work for some people)?
Why would you want to, the Hydralisk has already been ported to source for gmod and sfm
He never said he wanted it for Source.
well it's a pretty easy way to take the source model and export it into something else..unless it's for like Xnalara or xps, I THINK they already have that.
Decompiling doesn't always work. Especially for SFM models.

There is no MPQ files.I have Legacy of the void and i dont know how to extract models and textures.I have experience with the MPQ files but my game have only files like 001,002,003 etc...I tryed with HJ-split to combine them but still its not working.Do i need some old version of the game in order to extract models and textures?
Weird, last time I checked it all worked. I'll take a look once I have some time.
Lucky i was having old version of Starcraft 2 which in this case was Wings of Liberty and this time i was able to extract models and textures.Like other people said it seems Blizzard decided to change the file formats in their new expansion's.

I've having a heck of a time learning how to extract models and view them. So frustrating. I try to import jim raynor model and it like puts all the parts together. trying to separate them stretches the whole thing.
Thanks for sharing shaw, as for Jim Raynor, there's a link to him in the OP (first post of the thread). You can find it in the same section as all the other models I extracted like three years ago.

As far as I know LordOvermind only released his Zerg stuff to the public.
As far as I know LordOvermind only released his Zerg stuff to the public.
thanks, at least I can stop asking random people and scouring everywhere on the internet. now to go to the source.
Now this is abit of a bump, but since nobody was undertaking it, here's some legacy of the void models I've been working on As of now I have Selendis, the cinematic Zealot, will work on giving it a nerve cord bodygroup, a pylon, a probe, and the Sentry. I will also be porting the cinematic void ray and carriers (both the normal and tal'darim versions), Alarak, Vorazun, Karax, and Fenix,. There's also Protoss civilian models along with two cinematic generic dark templar models. And finally, Ouros the Xel'naga. Whether I add the game unit buildings for props due to demand or if anyone has suggestions to add to this Legacy of the Void pack, please post em here. Now, who was it in this thread that created and fused the game unit with the Stalker's portrait model? because it would save me alot of time from having to (very messingly) make my own Oh, and if anyone would wanna take a crack at making psiblades for them? Lemme know
Dmlxo was probably the guy who fused a portrait model with a cinematic one. He's not active anymore and when he still was he didn't release his work. Your work looks really promising however.

Question, do any of you folks know where I can find the files for the Spear of Adun?
I got bored again, so I cracked open Blender and imported Alarak's ingame model (NOT the cinematic model). I modified it so that he can make facial expressions and use his eyes, other than just having a glowing mass of 14 pixels.

I also decided to model and texture the rest of his head that was obscured by a giant fat robot neck. Also brace yourself folks, I'll be posting a link to a pack of what I've ported so far for you all to fiddle with. Mind you their only sfm compatible because I don't have time to make a physics mesh for each of them due to events going on that I need to attend to. All I gotta do is make a few preview pictures.
Alright boys and girls here you go http://www.mediafire.com/download/1vy4b45d37mdyox/Legacy+of+the+Void+Pack+V1.zip The first pack or version of my Legacy of the Void ports. Now it's considered beta to me because I haven't finished porting everything, but I might as well contribute to what I have without disappearing one day and leaving folks disappointed they never saw the models reach the light of day. No they are not gmod compatible, but you're free to make them so, just be sure to give me some credit when you do. Alittle bit of notes The Zealot model comes with a bodygroup for an experimental psiblade model, (which I hacked from Yaron's Artanis model from his Heros of the Storm pack) however, I'm currently unsatisfied with how it looked, so don't use it..much..whatever. Will fix it in the future. Selendis' model doesn't come with this same psiblade, but as I mentioned, I'm fine with you folks fiddling with them to create much better weapons. The Sentry model lacks a specular map so it won't be as "shiny" as the rest of em. The pylon model was scaled to what I assumed would be the ideal size of such a protoss building, but you can probably scale it down or whatever. The Carrier and Void Ray come in two skins, normal Khalai skins and the red/black Taldarim colors. And a majority of the zealot and Selendis have face posing via bones. I suck at flexes Annd that's about it, I'll try and update that pack as frequent as i came. I should note you're free to also fiddle with the textures to make them better looking, should you desire that. And that's all I got for now
I modeled the rest of his head where his robo-neck was, and based on what I've done, I see now why he has that robo-neck.

Updated the OP, all Dropbox links have been terminated and a new link to MEGA has been added where you can find all the packs.
Decently aged thread but I was wondering how complete these models are? Are they still needing to be ported to GMOD or SFM or wherever else or are they at least compatible with some of these already?

Yes, these files are raw and needs to be rigged and compiled for the Source engine.
