Will major characters from the 40k universe show up ie The Emperor of Mankind, Horus, etc? Since you guys are working on major Space Marine chapters, I thought that this might happen.

ingame test of camo cloak also original version because i went way overboard with the editing
Hey Ninja & Joazzz, will you guys make IG regiment have their own specific equipment? examples being the DKoK heavy weapon team's weapons being mounted on wheels
You know the more you guys ask Joazz if he is making certain things, the later he will release the models. He will let you guys know what hes making and when. best bet is to wait.
revamped the Dark Angels robes a little

ideas guys always speak out of turn. let it be known that the Emperor has decreed speaking out of turn an act of insubordination, thus heresy, for which the punishment is summary execution. report all ideas guys to your nearest Commissar so that the Emperor's justice may be served.

I forgot how much angst, stubbornness and downright assholery is in the Facepunch forums. Perhaps I shouldn't have come back. I restate my point against having goggles on camouflage infantry being blaze-fucking-orange. A difference between a generic Cadian shock trooper and stealth unit is that none of the art for them has any color on them, a color that is used to be extremely visible and separating from your environment. Oh yeah, and one's purpose is to be hidden, the other's isn't. Having a third of their face be blaze orange on a stealth unit is pants-on-head retarded and defeats any sort of purpose of having them be stealth units. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safety_orange Information on blaze-orange and what it's used for. BTW: Cadian Snipers. I don't see any bright orange on them, they are Cadians afterall, using Camo, and you ARE basing their design off Cadians are you not? Catachan IG snipers, camouflage units, made for stealth. They have goggles, but do you see something? Black. Black goggles. A Low visibility color that people use to stay hidden, including actual assassins of the Imperium. Stealth units involved in the Imperium don't use high-visibility colors, fuck not even the Space Marines do that when they revolve around Stealth. You're basing the design of a stealth unit off the design of basic infantry, both of which have two entirely different purposes. Recoloring isn't difficult, especially since the colors you have aren't actually the Cadian designs. Kasrkin don't have orange visors either. Regular shock troops do not, either. The only art I'm finding with any sort of resemblance to an orange/yellow color are two full body drawings, the rest is fan-art. If you're basing your models off the design of the Cadians, you should probably do that, not a fanartist design. Evne with those two pictures, it's a dull, dark gold. It's funny how when the actual holders of the 40k IP come out with a design that doesn't make sense, or is strange or any other synonym, people hate on it for damn near close to a year, but when someone comes out with fanart that deviates from not only the design but the purpose of the design aswell, people defend it. I understand you're making models and textures without pay, but atleast follow the actual official designs that make any semblance of sense, if you're going to say you're doing that. No reason to be re-using goggle bits from different models simply because "They're Cadian" and because you don't want to do a simple recolor so they can actually be used and look good for how they're used.
golly gee i'm so sorry you got so upset over something as simple as a goggle colour but yeah you do bring up a valid point, i will be giving the goggles extra options, but since i like how the vibrant goggles makes the entire thing, you know, pop i will also be keeping those thanks for the extra variaton pics btw, i'll be sure to try basing some more stuff off all that on another note, have a work in progress pose [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/450708155969900461/ED5A48026788959710FA3A9C2E6D09870315B99D/[/t]
Can we expect to see transparent goggle lenses, or is that out of the question?
probably gonna add that also extra colours [t]http://i.gyazo.com/567930e2379ccfa6edc04070462155a5.gif[/t] and gear options
-
Way to write an essay on something that could literally be explained in a single sentence, but nah gotta patronize people instead! [editline]13th July 2015[/editline] I like how you open with how "uppity" everyone is here whilst also being extremely uppity at the same time. Like for fucks sake it's literally 1 texture, even if ninja didn't make multiple skingroups for the goggles you could still just as easily change it yourself when he releases them. Also if you're going to complain about how the goggles being a high-vis color doesn't make sense strategically keep in mind the kasrkin wear bright fucking red bolts on their armor, nothing about their design isn't eye catching.
Nevermind that the guys use giant red flashlights to shoot their enemies so their goggles are the last they'd be worried about for giving away their positions.
Or the fact that the general strategy is CHAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGE INTO THE ENEMY LINES! (and shoot them too)
;48189689']probably gonna add that also extra colours [t]http://i.gyazo.com/567930e2379ccfa6edc04070462155a5.gif[/t] and gear options
Do you plan to make other Cadian regiments in addition to the 8th?
planning to make a bunch of regiments also, started setting up some decals [t]http://i.gyazo.com/d2298c87d00ed6e1ce90e7dd2b345151.png[/t][t]http://i.gyazo.com/c18b4532470392e45ae785dc768cde2d.png[/t] very early wip, most everything is subject to change
i think a good plan would be to make one regiment and include the texture PSDs in the release pack so that people can make more if they wish the current Cadian files are already 500 mb total and thats just the infantry
actually i was able to cut them down to 350
To be fair, a lot of filesize comes from the actual textures, as well as what type of VTF they were saved as - generally speaking, formats like DXT1 and DXT5 are more conservative than others like BGRA8888. Going back on topic, I found something useful in the 3rd Ed. codex: [img_thumb]http://u.cubeupload.com/dvaderv2/guardsmenreadytoserv.jpg[/img_thumb] There was another page with examples of non-Cadian regiments which I can also scan and upload if you want.
go for it
http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1475824 good shit thx ninja
Wonder if this will interest anybody https://moddota.com/forums/discussion/269/mdl-to-vmdl-conversion basically a guide of getting source models into Source 2.
;48193498']actually i was able to cut them down to 350
well that's still quite a bit considering one of my Space Marine Chapters takes only approximately 35-50 mb, with the normal maps and other shared textures taking 300-400 mb
;48194020']go for it
OK, but bear in mind that when I say 'non-Cadian' I actually mean that they don't use Cadian-pattern equipment etc. Also, like I said, this is from the 3rd Ed. codex, meaning that GW has had four editions to make any changes as they see fit - the Tallarn for instance have shifted from being 'Bedouins in space' to simply being Cadian-style dudes with keffiyehs instead of helmets (or at least that's what some of the newer artwork implies, since the GW webstore still seems to be selling the more Bedouin-ish models). [editline]13th July 2015[/editline] Here goes then, didn't come out as well as I'd have liked. This should cover a few colour schemes for the Valhallans, Mordians, Catachans, and Tallarn (as well as four other human worlds that probably were never mentioned again): [img_thumb]http://u.cubeupload.com/dvaderv2/tehimperialguard.jpg[/img_thumb] Bizzarely enough, these (alongside with the Cadian-style regiments and the Steel Legion) were the only regiments to get painted models displayed in the codex. THere were a few other regiments featured, like the Tanith First and Only and the Salvar Chem Dogs, but all they got was a line drawing or two in a brief section after the Doctrines section.
Wonder if this will interest anybody https://moddota.com/forums/discussion/269/mdl-to-vmdl-conversion basically a guide of getting source models into Source 2.
Anything ported to source 2 will look terrible as it has extremely limited material support at the moment. There's no reason to bother.
And no AO iirc.
And no AO iirc.
Well actually it does have ao support. However; ao is enabled on a per shader basis. None of it's shaders support ao. That of which being customhero and globallitsimple. Just like how the very same shaders in the original sfm didn't support ao either. That's another reason you shouldn't bother. It offers us nothing new. Hell it has even less.
