update the thing at the bottom is a combat knife sheath and the small bit that looked like a tie is for Thousand Sons helmet decoration [editline]11th July 2014[/editline] and the lamp is for Apothecaries this is all in one diffuse sheet of course to save space speaking of which, i've still got a lot of space in the texture. what more can i add? World Eaters heraldry is probably going to be made but what else?
Apothecary's Narthecium WiP it's a separate ragdoll with three floating bones, for if the cables have to be stretched or compressed when posing or animating. can be a bit difficult to handle but works better than a proper ragdoll with a dozen connected joints at least i think it works better, i haven't tried making a super flexible and neatly rigged cable ragdoll [editline]12th July 2014[/editline] oh, the drill has its own bone for animating, and the chainsaw blade will get an animated texture bodygroup too

Burning text motifs and lots of paper with mystical runes.
'OOZ READY FER SERJERY?? [editline]14th July 2014[/editline] two other versions will be made
Can't wait for white-helmet Apothacaries, looking great Joazzz.
the two other Apothecaries are done, and there's now a separate model of the Reductor for each arm. it only needs the spinning chainsaw blade bodygroup now color masking has begun, the moment of reskinning draws nearer

As such, I'll stick to saying you're awesome.
today i've been doing some refinements to the MK7 models, getting rid of some unnecessary textures with merging and modeling some more armor detail might post pics of the updated detail prop arsenal tomorrow
I've tried porting the EYE stuff before; always ended up with weird texture issues. If you managed to get it all to work though, that's awesome. I've wanted to use the EYE models for a long time.
A couple people here ported all of it already, they just never shared it (aside from the usual HAHA LOOK WHAT I GOTS screenshots), so it's entirely doable. [editline]15th July 2014[/editline]
update the thing at the bottom is a combat knife sheath and the small bit that looked like a tie is for Thousand Sons helmet decoration [editline]11th July 2014[/editline] and the lamp is for Apothecaries this is all in one diffuse sheet of course to save space speaking of which, i've still got a lot of space in the texture. what more can i add?
Speaking of skulls, any plans for LoD stuff?
you bet, but i'll get the Heresy-era stuff out of the way first some more stuff added Iron Warriors, World Eaters, Imperial Fists, Blood Angels/Ravens and Dark Angels things. the triangle-like thing is for Night Lords, and the helmet faceplate is for Heresy-era Ultramarines
not much done today, but at least something i remade the MK2/MK3 power pack by using parts from my model and one of the fancier backpacks from Space Marine, which was essentially the Heresy-era backpack but with two eagle heads for vents compare it to the Forge World model and you'll see that it's not 100% accurate, but looks more HD. just gonna have to remove the laurel under the middle vent i also made a faceplate specifically for the Emperor's Children. give it a retexture job and it'll fit on Thousand Sons too. the texture shown is a rough mockup i also made a wolf head insignia for Luna Wolves and the Fenrisian boys but it's currently untextured. i also made some of the textures of the decoration bits slightly lower def so that they don't clash with the overall low level of detail of the armor plating and to have more room in the diffuse after i've made a crusader-style mask for the Dark Angels and two variations of the Eye of Horus i've made pretty much all the necessary detail bits. after that i'll finish the texture masks - for the textures i currently have anyway - and model two types of Crusade/Heresy era jump pack (beer kegs and single engine). then i'll start slapping the right bits on the right models to make unique Chapter/Legion model combinations. test compiling all those is probably the next thing after that. might take a look at some weapons - Umbra pattern bolter must be made at some point, but that won't take much time - and start thinking about Terminators. as soon as i have all the Legion/Chapter dudes kitted up and ready to go i'll start handing some of them out to the reskin team [editline]18th July 2014[/editline] oh, and since i hit the bodygroup limit on most of the later armor MKs a long time ago, adding jump packs is going to take some tech-sorcery. might remove some of the stuff from certain models, the Night Lords for example didn't drape themselves in robes like the Dark Angels now did they?
Why not make the jump packs bone mergable props with their own bodygroups? Like Bloo's latest soldiers and all their rigging.
Why not make the jump packs bone mergable props with their own bodygroups? Like Bloo's latest soldiers and all their rigging.
this was my initial plan, but the problem is that the oldest style jump pack - beer kegs - seems to be a standalone backpack model, with its new heat vent placement and all. of course i could make that a bodygroup and have the two more modern models as separate, bone mergable props though. or use blank bodygroups or something. i'll see what i can come up with, might have to break some fluff and design rules but fuck it
welp Forge World just retconned a new Terminator design specifically for the Iron Hands Legion and that means more work for me
Oh man. That's gotta be a kick in the guts for you....
i think ill be lazy and just make the helmet and pauldrons and use already existing parts for the rest since im going to have all the Terminator parts - indomitus, tartaros, cataphractii - in one texture, recycling parts is going to save space
[t]http://files.1337upload.net/EmpChiFace-35f742.png[/t]
Small recommendation - if I were you, I'd bevel the edge around the eye slits so that it's smoother. A very small bevel ought to be enough.
bevel? whatever advanced technique that is, Milkshape doesn't have it :v:
found this quickly - but yeah, in max or blender it's just usually a modifier. Alternatively, if you want, you can throw it in my way later and I can try running a simple bevel on the edge to see how it looks like.
eeeh i think i'll keep it straight like that. it's not a huge detail anyway
skipped the insignia placement for now and went straight to the Umbra-pattern bolter not much left to do, just need to add some details and the charging handle/ejection port. oh and textures of course. when this is done we'll have enough boltguns - three in total (Phobos, Umbra, standard Godwyn). don't worry, the Heresy-era double Phobos bolter and the Stormbolter will be added to the armory too, when i get to Terminators. after i'm finished with the Umbra i'll just slap some better rigging on these three so that they can be given more detailed animations, and bodygroups including bayonets (stabby knife blade, chainblade), barrels (two styles of normal barrel, extended one for sniping), magazines (straight, curved, drum, box) and sights (regular iron sights, long range scope, short range scope) will be added too. belt fed Heavy Bolter might be made, i'm not too sure about that. however i'll probably do all that when i'm done with the Legion/Chapter-specific armor variants just so my plans don't get too derailed
been placing the Legion-specific detail props and doing the texture color masks. to make sure everything works as intended i'm making the Emperor's Children at this point
Whoa! Now that's a winner right there mate!
THINGS SHALL GET LOUD N- i mean FOR THE EMPEROR! so yeah, texture masks work properly. they need some final tuning, but i'll tackle that when i make one more reskin as a test. the armor detail props for the other legions/chapters aren't fully textured yet but that will be also taken care of as i go on soon, eager reskinners, soon... [editline]23rd July 2014[/editline] oh, and note the Umbra pattern bolter. two kinds of scopes, chainsaw bayonet, two magazine options. there will be a basic blade bayonet soon and i'll apply the bodygroups to the Phobos boltgun and standard bolter too, the latter of which will also be getting a few alternative barrels [editline]23rd July 2014[/editline] these are MK2, MK3, MK4 and MK5 armors obviously. i left out the MK6 because the Children weren't too fond of beakies AFAIK and the MK7 isn't present because, well, they rebelled before that went into proper production
NOISE MARINES, CAN YOU HEAR ME?
should i keep the helmet purple? thought it might fit the flamboyant bastards pretty well
Correct me if I'm wrong, but apothecaries only have the right shoulder and right kneepad coloured to match their chapter. Everything else is painted white. In other words, personally I don't like it.
"everything" seemingly didn't apply before the Horus Heresy and Codex reformations [editline]24th July 2014[/editline] left shoulder seems to be the one with the Chapter/Legion colors btw
Oh. well nevermind then. Do that :v: [editline]24th July 2014[/editline] Honestly though, it looks weird when only the helmet, backpack and left shoulder are coloured in chapter colours.
well i'm going to make it vary slightly for each Chapter/Legion the more Codex-adherent (ULTRAMARINES COUGH) Chapters of course will follow the "White everything" color scheme [editline]24th July 2014[/editline] making Iron Hands, playing with optics/bionics
