got carried away

Legio Ignatum - the Fire Wasps - Loyal
Legio Fureans - Tiger Eyes - Traitor
Legio Mortis - Death's Heads - Traitor
Legio Gryphonicus - War Griffons - Loyal
the Mars-pattern Warhound is easy to reskin; the armor plating is all in one sheet while the mechanical parts that don't need coloring have their own; all the different Legios can thus share the bare metal parts while having their own armor color. this saves time and disk space
however, the Reaver has a total of at least 5 textures. that's a little too much to be efficient, so i'll be rearranging the textures for efficiency.
if possible, i'll repeat this with the Warlord(s). when that's done i'll probably release the whole bunch
the Emperor however will require more tinkering and will be thus released separately from the others
but enough of that for now, i need to finish the Marines
So im making it a personal project in the same manner Joazz is making space marines, to port Tau empire models. its going to take a good while as my experience with these programs is very novice. My first goal is to port over the crisis suit commander from dow 2 last stand and maybe retexture it so it looks better.
Its not going to be easy and ill gladly take any help and advice i can get.
great to see that others are jumping on this
we'll also need proper Tyranids at some point
Well, id say after tau (time considering) Id take a crack at tyranids perhaps. No promises though.
What about necrons?
i'm making the Necrons on the side of everything else
i have a Destroyer, Monolith, Warrior, Immortal and Deathmark ready
i wish to make some more stuff before i release them
So little update: having a little issue getting the programs to extract the crisis suit model to work but i should get it working soon.
There is this guy i found on Advanced tau tactica forum that has made a riptide model using blender.

He said i have his permission to include it into the pack however the model has over 100k vertices and faces which is way tooo high for source engine to handle and very difficult animate. but eventually ill figure out how to render it to a lower poly count, but i dont have the time or skills yet to do that. I believe he is also working on a broadside.
have you asked if he can scale down on the polys?
Not yet, i got other projects im focusing on first.
when you can, could you try to port the Death Korps from the retribution dlc?
when you can, could you try to port the Death Korps from the retribution dlc?
maybe if you paid some goddamn attention you'd know who's going to do the Imperial Guard around here
yes i'm planning to use the Retribution Death Korps; they might be low res, but they're true to the source material. with a few simple enhancements they can be made very decent-looking
thanks for the answer, i guess. and i thought i posted this on another thread :P
What other guard regiments are you working on as well Joazzz?
i will do Catachans, Cadians, Armageddon, Krieg, Valhallans, Vostroyans and Mordians. Tallarns might be cool but somewhat difficult to do
each regiment will get a set of models in the vein of
Trooper - regular soldier that you can turn into almost any type of infantryman
Grenadier - heavier armor
Vehicle crew - light armor with tank driver headgear, pilot helmet etc bodygroup options
Commissar - might have bodygroups for a little bit of armor variation
Commander - fancy coat, i can say that much
might make several variants of trooper; i'm planning to use those ARMA heads but a little bit of extra variation in that department is never bad
also included will be a Sanctioned Psyker, and Ogryns if possible
when it comes to vehicles:
Sentinels
Leman Russ chassis tanks
Chimera chassis tanks
Macharius chassis tanks
Malcador chassis tanks
Baneblade chassis tanks
Valkyrie (ALREADY MADE BY BLOOCOBALT, BUT I'LL BORROW HIS AND ADD SOME ENHANCEMENTS)
MAYBE Capitol Imperialis; won't be Regiment-specific
i also hope to make Auxilia Imperialis/Imperial Army versions of these things and generic Imperial Army infantry. instead of following the Forge World designs however i'll go with some headcanon, i don't like the Solar Auxilia guys
Seriously, are you one of the primarchs Joazzz, cause that would actually explain the awesomeness you're doing right now
All the above look relatively easy, cadians have already been partly ported, vahallans can be converted using red orchestra's eastern front germans, same with armmagedon.
Hey Joazzz, do you plan on making ships? i kind of want to make some tau ships sometime in the future.
haven't had any plans for that, although maybe they'd be useful for SFM videos
[editline]22nd April 2015[/editline]
i don't know, time will tell. have to make all the ground armies first
[editline]22nd April 2015[/editline]
if i were to make ships i'd probably make no more than 1-3 per race. a Battle Barge, a Battleship and a Cruiser would be quite enough for the Imperials, for example, and IMO the Tomb Ship would be the only one the Necrons would really need
Okay so to reflect that ill just make a couple tau ships.
One last thing Joazzz and ill leave you alone for a bit, For space marines, ive always wanted to do a Deathwatch miniseries or something based on my goups gaming hijinks of the same RPG.
Have you made or plan on making Deathwatch specific armor and weapons? Though i think the armor would be easy as reskinning they do have a specific bolter.

didn't know they had a bolter of their own
yes, i'm planning to include Deathwatch. how i'll implement the dudes, i don't know yet
Okay got step 1 done: figure out how to get this program to work and grab a battlesuit model now the next step is to figure out how to get it into 3ds max 2014 (which is the only program it seems that this program will transfer too.)

The program is called santos tools 2 in case anyone was wondering. http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?244744-TOOL-Santos-Tools-2-UPDATED-31-01-Scripts-v1-2-2-released!
For deathwatch, why not add them to a new pack called "marines of the inquisition" and include them and the grey knights. Another option is to just include then in a inquisition pack.
For deathwatch, why not add them to a new pack called "marines of the inquisition" and include them and the grey knights.
this is a good idea
[editline]22nd April 2015[/editline]
also SkullH4T i'd love to see some modern Tau suits, if you're willing to put some together
Well i think for now i want to port the models with redone textures. (which i may need some help) For people that may want model. I do plan on releasing an Enhanced battlesuit with more details and moveable hands. I know that same guy making the riptide model is also working on a broadside.
If i can figure it out im looking to extract tau models from dawn of war dark crusade and enhance those as well.
Why would you re-do it's textures? They're some of the best in retribution.
Why would you re-do it's textures? They're some of the best in retribution.
im looking to have a unified look with all the stuff ill eventually release, dont want things missed matched.
FYI, seeing as I'm getting better at Max by the day I could help out by making some Tau armors.
(No bodies tho, haven't touched anatomy yet.)
Well i am looking to make the XV88-05 enforcer armor, broadside, shadowsuns armor, farsight (new version) Pirahnas, razorshark, manta etc, to include interiors for vehicles. so ill take what help i can get. the trick is to make everything uniform though.
EDIT: and drones too, lots of em.
Riptide?
That other guy was making one but its not going to be ready for a while.
That other guy was making one but its not going to be ready for a while.
that sums up my project pretty well
