B Tiger II mit 10.5 L/68[/B] A Krupp proposal made in 1944 to rearm the Tiger II with a newly made 105mm cannon, derived from an anti aircraft gun. While the proposal was promising, it was ultimately rejected due to the 105mm cannon using two-piece ammunition, which would not only reduce the rate of fire due to assembly time, but require a second loader on the already cramped Tiger II production turret. B JagdTiger (Sd.Kfz 186)[/B] The heaviest AFV to see operational use in WW2 and the heaviest AFV to ever reach series production. Originally conceived as a heavy tank destroyed mounting a 128mm gun on either the Panther or Tiger I chassis, the Tiger II chassis was eventually chosen due to the massive weight requirement. Originally dubbed the Jagdpanzer VI, later renamed to JagdTiger, it was the most powerful heavily armored vehicle in the Wermacht, with it's gun being capable of out-ranging and penetrating any Allied vehicle while being nearly invulnerable in turn. However, due to it's late introduction, only 88 of the 150 commissioned vehicles were completed, with some being finished after the German surrender and never seeing combat. This was the main variant, using the Henschel 9 road wheel suspension from the Tiger II. Name: Panzerjäger Tiger Ausf.
