Last time I saw him use them, He hadn't actually done the coding, just rigged them to the hl2 skeleton and used the model manipulator to set them as his player model.

They do currently use the modelmanipulator but this is only the pre-testing stage where i get rigs sorted out. The final release version should hopefully have the models intergrated into the playermodel selection menu.
