I've been playing this game for a year. I have no clue what this abstract art is. I've been staring at it for far too long, so if you could please end my helplessness, I would really appreciate it.
I think its a cliff face of some kind, the blank space at the bottom is probably where the actual playing area is.

Isn't that a DLC map? No wodner why I can't recognize it.
You know all Titanfall dlc is free on origin, right?
Well, the download that I had for the resource pack was taken down by Mega, so I had to remove the pack itself and the link that I recently provided. Anyone happen to know of another site I could upload roughly 5 GB of data to that doesn't limit the amount of data you can upload?
-snip-
Figured out what was wrong on my end. For some reason, running the VPK tool as Admin doesn't allow you to drag anything into it, so I just ran it normally and it worked.
Until I can find another place to upload the resource pack, I'll be doing my own bit of work on porting the weapons over as props. I'll need help at some point to get a hand with setting up texture groups, but that can wait until I actually reach that particular bump in the road. For now, here's a quick collage for the R97 and all of its attachments (plus some extras that apparently aren't used in-game, but are still included in the compiled/decompiled view model): [t]http://i.imgur.com/F8YXJrd.jpg[/t]
I can help with the texture groups, although I'm wondering what texture groups would you need to make with each weapon only having one skin, or are you referring to the textures of the ammo counters on the guns and other such things?
I can help with the texture groups, although I'm wondering what texture groups would you need to make with each weapon only having one skin, or are you referring to the textures of the ammo counters on the guns and other such things?
I'm mainly referring to the ammo counters on the weapons, but I also noticed that a couple of other weapons (the R-101C and the Longbow DMR to be specific) can actually have their textures swapped with no consequence. I'm thinking that I might set them both up with a texture group as well, but I'm still weighing that idea.
Well most of the "texture groups" for the ammo counters are actually one texture for certain weapons that use a VMT Proxies to shift/rotate the texture to show the next number or meter-length. They do in fact work with the Garry's Mod version of Source Engine.
Any news on the resources?
Any news on the resources?
Nobody's informed me of another site to upload them to, so I've just had the pack sitting on my hard drive for the time being. I apparently can't upload it to MEGA since they'll just remove the download option again and render the pack useless once more, so I'm not exactly sure where else to upload the pack to at this time. The pack is roughly 5GB worth of data, and a majority of the other upload sites that I'm personally aware of have a limit ranging between 250 MB and 500 MB at most for uploads; MEGA's really the only one that I know of that doesn't have that limitation, but the resource pack keeps being blocked whenever I upload it there, so I need another place to upload it to if people are going to have a go at the resource pack. On a slightly related note, I decided to look through the weapons again, and I found a weapon that's not exactly seen in-game. Either I found a random weapon that was discarded after the beta and left in the game's files, or I just happened to come across a weapon that's just not commonly seen in the game. According to the labeling when the textures are applied, it's supposed to be the R-101 Carbine, but I don't remember the R-101C looking like this: [T]http://i.imgur.com/aTVErUA.jpg[/T]
Maybe it was an earlier design for it that they replaced later on but never bothered to take out. With some of the weapons that were left out, is one a shotgun for Titans, because that's in the pack of titan weapons.

If I come across any other weapons that were left out of the main game, I'll make sure to post something when I come across them.
Check out the Titan weapons on the workshop, they have what I'm talking about.
You know all Titanfall dlc is free on origin, right?
No shit, I just haven't played them all yet seeing as they still haven't compressed the audio files the game takes up a shitload of space. :v:
Sorry, I was just trying to be helpful, sorry.
You don't need to apologize?

Also, it's odd that all the weapon include bodygroups for the square silencer and the cylindrical one, yet the game only shows rifles using the square one and pistols using the cylindrical one. I'm assuming that they were meant to differ in some way, probably that cylindrical = less quiet but more powerful than square silencer, and vice-versa for the square one.
IIRC, that may be the Beta R101c Carbine.
That's the general thought that I was leaning towards. I haven't been able to find anything about this particular model (not even screenshots or videos from the beta), but the simple fact that it's labeled as the R-101 Carbine leads me to believe that it was an earlier concept of the final model we see in the retail version.
Also, it's odd that all the weapon include bodygroups for the square silencer and the cylindrical one, yet the game only shows rifles using the square one and pistols using the cylindrical one. It's interesting to say the least, and I don't see any reason to exclude the extra attachment options from the GMod compiles beyond just a few people that will probably complain about certain attachments not being available for certain weapons under normal circumstances.
Why the hell would someone complain about having options?
Why the hell would someone complain about having options?
Because it's not authentic to the game. I think the extra attachments are fun, personally, but some people will certainly be concerned about authenticity.
I guess then they would complain that there are grunt playermodels because you couldn't play as a grunt in the game.
[T]http://i.imgur.com/aTVErUA.jpg[/T]
My gut feeling initially was that this was an improperly textured Compact SMG, but there are several differences, so that theory is bust. It's remarkably similar though: It's worth noting that many weapons are based on the R-101C, which is clearly seen in the game's files. The Longbow DMR, Compact SMG, and C.A.R. SMG are all among its variants. Edit: Also, is there any problem just uploading the files to something like Google Drive. It would be great if you could because then people could download the files selectively as they need them.
I think that's where one of those sight sets came from, but yeah looks like it's just a beta R101C.
Perhaps I'm missing something, but in my experience with the files, most of the sights are shared between guns. On a side note, it's interesting to find that there are a few examples in the game where you can use gun sights that aren't selectable in loadout customization. One is the amped DMR, which has an Active Radar Pulse gunsight. The other one was added in a game update. The amped C.A.R. SMG initially had (if i remember correctly) the Iron Sights, but an update changed it to the Holosight. This is a perfect example of why they have all of those extra bone groups set up. They made it easy to add extra sights to a gun post-launch.
You are in correct in saying that the attachments are "shared" between the weapons, but in reality the guns have the actual model as a bodygroup for each gun, the only thing that is shared between them are the textures for the attachments.

The Longbow DMR, Compact SMG, and C.A.R. SMG are all among its variants.
There are similarities for two reasons, actually. The first reason (which started either during or before the beta) was because the R-101 was originally meant to be a modular weapon in order to server various different purposes, which would have made it an ideal all-rounder weapon for everyone to work with; the downside for this idea, however, was that they would have ended up with just one weapon and a shit ton of attachments to re-fit it as necessary, which would leave the overall weapon choices to be far more limited than what's available now for the pilots in the final version of the game. The second reason is because the weapons you mentioned (Longbow DMR, C.A.R. SMG, R-97 compact SMG) are all based on the R-101's platform; their similarities are strictly based on the fact that they use the R-101 as a base (except for the Lonbow DMR, that's literally just the R-101 with a bipod and a foregrip attached; looks almost exactly the same otherwise, and the texture for the DMR can actually be applied to the R-101 without consequence).
Edit: Also, is there any problem just uploading the files to something like Google Drive. It would be great if you could because then people could download the files selectively as they need them.
I despise Google Drive with a passion. Every time I've tried to use it for uploading purposes, it either fails or just flat-out refuses to upload anything for me. I'd use it if those problems weren't constantly happening on my end, so another alternative is still needed.
Perhaps I'm missing something, but in my experience with the files, most of the sights are shared between guns.
Most of the sights (mainly the HCOG, Holo, and AOG sights) are shared between several weapons, but there are some that are restricted to specific weapons only, like the 8x/12x scopes being restricted to the sniper rifles. For the sake of variety (and for the sake of why not), I'll probably be taking some of the attachments that aren't normally available for certain weapons and placing them in as bodygroups. Within reason, of course; I'm not going to stick the 8x/12x scope on a shotgun or SMG, after all. :v:
On a side note, it's interesting to find that there are a few examples in the game where you can use gun sights that aren't selectable in loadout customization. The reason for why they're there in the decompiled files? Well, the easiest answer to that would simply be either laziness, previously intended use that was abandoned once the game went live, or intended use that they just haven't implemented yet and may/may not implement in the future.
