fixed it, changed the 'rotate' to 'absolute' and removed the following values i also changed the coords to match the eye position. oops double post, i thought it automerged

importing SMDs into Blender apparently destroys the smoothing groups, as in sets them all to the same one resulting in the model turning into a smooth blob, i'm sure everyone knows how the phenomenon looks i've heard that there's a way to prevent this, does anyone know what that is? asking for a third party mainly, but also because i've been thinking of trying Blender again.

revisited some old stuff I had ripped but backlogged, starting with Mechonis from Xenoblade Chronicles. [img_thumb]https://i.imgur.com/PGaFhlk.jpg[/img_thumb] Here's its original form, wielding its huge fucking sword I made some custom spec and bumpmaps for it too because it's from a Wii game and Wii games don't do bumpmaps or other fancy graphics because it's basically a Gamecube hardware revision. [img_thumb]https://i.imgur.com/7o0EsiT.jpg[/img_thumb] Also the alpha for its hair and 'skirt' as well as most of its greebles uses a separate UV channel that doesn't play nice, so I have to go edit the texture to add that in. Once I finish this, I can do Bionis as well.

The M2HB's texture on that model is exactly like that ingame. It's not that it's a problem with the port, it's the fact that it's shitty to start with.

Also I figured out that the UV map is actually working fine, it's just the gear bits that aren't, because they use some sort of weird UV trick to do it that I can't seem to replicate. Basically only one corner of the plane is mapped to the texture, but then it does some mirroring thing to mirror that one corner to the other corners of the plane. This shows up fine in Brawlbox, but doesn't seem to carry over into Max.
