I'm not extremely familiar with Cinema4D, but whenever I attach textures that are causing the model to turn black it's almost always the normal texture. Typically inverting or flipping something will resolve this problem.

Thanks for this! Not sure how to convert an FPLMESH or ASTC file. Those are two formats I am unfamiliar with, Only ever used to working with FBX or OBJ.

I've had some experience with this, black or very dim textures, so maybe I can throw my two cents in. Take this with a grain of salt, I'm not as even remotely skilled as many of the people here.
In blender, I don't know if you are using render or cycles, but it could have very similar outcomes. I'm going to convey how I mess with things, so maybe my walkthrough will help you out.
I open the dds in GIMP. If GIMP has a heartattack and is unable to open the dds I convert it to png using a texture converter.
When I open the png in GIMP it may have a heavy alpha texture applied. For the new Star Wars stuff I separate these two layers. After I split them I show the layer mask and save that as a separate texture for later use. I then delete it, leaving a texture with no alpha channels.
I then hop over to Colors-Levels and bring it up to 1.5 or 1.6
In Blender, if you are using nodes, sometimes you have to apply your texture node through a diffuse node or it won't show up. It will come up black.
Once you get one node working you can repeat the process for your other textures and throw them into the mix. Some people use the Principled BSDF node, but I get a somewhat better reflective quality if I do the node structure myself. This is up to you, preferences and all that.

I wouldn't personally know the exact process in Photoshop, but if you like I can look into it when I get home in a few days [unless a nija beats me to it].
You are trying to, essentially, convert that sandcrawler from Cinema 4d to a usable obj or fbx, yeah?

Kylo's shuttle isn't in the game at all, just his starfighter which was already posted.

If you use Blender, or don't mind using it for this purpose, I usually have no problems exporting large files with textures as a dae file and then load it into blender render. It will come with the textures applied in a base structure [so you'll at least know what goes where] but things like alpha channels don't always carry over [blender gets confused on my end if the other format used a texture instead of like a png with transparency]. From Blender you can very easily export to obj or fbx. Aside from a few hiccups I very rarely encounter any major texturing issues going from Cinema 4d to Blender. Biggest problem I hit is the dds not being able to be opened in GIMP, but I just use a bulk texture converter to go from dds to png.[/QUOTE]
Thanks for the advise. I still couldn't export the crawler textures with Blender though, I ended up going texture by texture in Maya. I did encourage me to start learning Blender though and now I can auto create light maps which are my nemesis!
For some reason the Resistance Bomber model won't open in anything, even to view it on the windows 3d viewer.
Also has there been a model of the Raddus? Or is it one of those thats in hundreds of pieces?

Hang on, Im sure i saw it in the new DLC on Vardos, You see it depart and fly off, I dont know if it would be fully detailed im sure i saw it or something similar, As for the detail im not sure though.
