A WiP won't improve without the person making it knowing what's wrong and how to fix it.
It's just a WIP jeez.
Try thinking about it from the perspective of someone that's working on the model; would you rather nothing be mentioned now and end up seeing all of the complaints later when it's finished, or would you rather see the complaints now and hammer out the details as best as you possibly can to cut down/eliminate those complaints when it's finally released?
lol it's also like a few inches too tall but that can be dealt with just before uv mapping
e: wait no my measuring stick was totally wrong it's just right
I suppose you guys have a point...though some of those things are pretty darn obvious.
Cool. Yeah i was doing most of this against a cellphone picture of a magazine article and a blurry screenshot until the official site updated today
Wait a minute, is that a Mega Evolution Lopunny?
Wait a minute, is that a Mega Evolution Lopunny?
Yes.
Yes.
Interesting. Never thought that one would appear that quickly...
Just a question, is there a Mega Lucario model anywhere?
It's just a WIP jeez.
I was talking about regular Mega Lopunny, based on the official artwork...
So, possible dumb question, but...
I'm not really a big fan of the shading on the RTB models as-is. How would I go about applying, say, the TF2 lightwarp to them?

What's a lightwarp?
In layman's terms, it's a special shading effect that dictates how light plays on a material. It's the reason why TF2's characters look so distinct.

Yeah i know there's a guy on DA who made one along with Delphox for MMD

Ah yes! That one! I remember it! But I could never open the model. Really wanted to give ragdoll making a try....

There's a ton of pokemon for MMD that aren't available for gmod right now. Stuff like that is exactly why I use both.

Easy. I use lightwarps on a lot of my custom models and ports. Not the TF2 one, but all the same really. Place in VMT.
"$lightwarptexture" "models/player/lordvipes/bl_clance/blshade"
For TF2 lightwarp, they all use pyro_lightwarp, so once you get that, you're solid. But it's not that simple. You gotta also tweak phong and whatnot to get a good result.

I'm not really a big fan of the shading on the RTB models as-is. How would I go about applying, say, the TF2 lightwarp to them?
Easy. Download the "SFM" package from the Pokémon addon and extract just the "materials" folder to your root Garry's Mod folder (so it'd be in steamapps/common/GarrysMod/garrysmod), then just edit the VMTs to have the $lightwarp command. Any textures in the root folder will take priority over the ones used in Workshop addons.
By "have the $lightwarp command", do you mean simply setting the lightwarp path via $lightwarptexture? Or is there a literal $lightwarp flag I need to enable for it to work at all?
Because I tried just setting the path on a Zoroark model as a test, and I saw no change at all.
[editline]t[/editline]
"VertexLitGeneric"
{
"$baseTexture" "models\Zoroark\ZoroarkBody"
"$bumpmap" "models\effects\flat_normal"
"$halflambert" "1"
"$phong" "1"
"$phongexponent" "15"
"$phongboost" "1"
"$lightwarptexture" "models/player/pyro/pyro_lightwarp"
"$phongfresnelranges" "[.3 1 8]"
// Rim lighting parameters
"$rimlight" "1"
"$rimlightexponent" "4"
"$rimlightboost" "2"
}
Ignore the other settings, it's a test VMT. What am I doing wrong?
Someone should make Team Rocket models
I can only find like one Team Rocket model(of an executive, not jessie and james), but it's for MMD...
Well there's these http://luigimariogmod.deviantart.com/art/Team-Rocket-Models-WIP-333819466 but they've been WIP since 2012. I don't think they're coming out.
Edit: I did also find a MMD version of Jessie and James... this is why I use MMD in conjunction with gmod, I swear...
Got caught up in a little of the excitement over Pokkén Tournament...

I'm curious to see how it all ends up. I hear they're trying to go for a "Pokémon in real like" look, or something like that.

If by that you mean "more realistic" then yes, that does seem to be the case. 3D rendered graphics are getting near that tipping point in the uncanny valley, and Nintendo has been way behind for the most part, good to see they're actually trying to catch up...
[editline]31st August 2014[/editline]
(Wouldn't let me edit my post properly for some reason)
Course then again Zelda's been doing fairly well in that aspect lately as well I suppose.
To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the realistic look. Sure, it looks nice, but it kinda takes the Pokemon feeling away, for me at least.
Eh, I'm sure the main series will always look the same. Then again, Miyamoto has said he doesn't like casual gamers, so maybe he's decided to stop using aesthetics that don't really appeal to most hardcore gamers?
Or perhaps these spin-offs (Pokken Tournament and Hyrule Warriors) are going to be a thing to help him appeal to a broader audience? I mean what's next? Call of Metroid: Futuristic warfare(Not that I believe actual hardcore gamers enjoy CoD Modern Warfare mind)? :P
Well, I'd like to see a GTA with Nintendo characters. Wario riding his bike on the motorway, or Link cutting people instead of bushes. Hell, imagine the plot from any Pokemon game, but in a GTA Style. I'd buy it ._.
What?
Changing topic for a sec, turns out that 3DS games can finally be extracted now. Which means it's possible for people to get at the models from Pokémon X/Y.
Problem is it requires an older firmware 3DS, and mine's at the newest because I never expected that kind of thing to be available anytime this year. So I still can't do anything about that, since I'm not made out of money to get an older one just for that. :v:
(EDIT: Okay, just X/Y then. Pokedex 3D's have an unknown compression, Dream Radar has no models and Mystery Dungeon's aren't worthwhile.)
I'm sure there will be other porters with older firmware, either way you should definitely keep yours out of date for future porting.
There's another method that's being worked on that might work with the one I've got (8.1.0-19U), but I don't know when that will be released, and there's no guarantee that method will work with it either.
So I just have to sit here and wait. Again.
That's great news!
*NOOB ALERT, BIG NOOB INCOMING*
What's firmware?
Would people please stop calling themselves noobs when they don't understand technobabble? Firmware is basically a layer of software that makes hardware work. Such as the bios(boot up screen stuff and the menu when you press F8 while booting up) on a computer.
It's basically the first bit of software run when using any piece of digital hardware. I think that some people often confuse the Wii(U) Menu/3DS Menu, but that's actually the operating system's Graphical User Interface(GUI).
