Also, Pokken models are now possible. A little odd that this thread got no update on that...
Maybe it's becomes Pokken has so few Pokémon?
Does anyone here know how to animate 4 legged or 6 legged creatures?
Does anyone here know how to animate 4 legged or 6 legged creatures?
Very carefully
But no seriously you might want to use SFM for that because it's considerably more difficult in gmod. You'd need 5-7 people to hold the thing up and move the legs around. I only know about this method because I've heard about it before.
So I noticed most of the models have already been put up on the Models Resource, they have SMD formats and were ripped by RTB so that's probably an assurance of quality.
So is there just some small process left to getting these into Garrysmod? Obviously guys like RTB are busy with a bunch of other projects and nearly everyone probably has a life and all but I've currently got little more than free time. So if there's just some process to stick these into Garrysmod then I'd be happy to try and deal with that part. Just wanna make myself useful and all...
It's not that simple I'm afraid. It takes a lot of work...
First you have to convert the models which I think just requires a blender addon but that won't make them work, you have to rig up all the bones and that's the particularly hard part to my knowledge.
I wouldn't know though, I'm too lazy to even consider trying.
Does anyone know if Pokémon Go uses Pokédex 3D Pro models?

That's just incredibly discouraging...
I'm sure if he/she really wanted to do it, the process can be found or taught with the help of internet.
Well, I don't even know how to do it myself so I'll just show myself out.
But hey!!! If you wanna do it, you gotta DO IT! It really isn't restricted to the knowledgeable few!
I was going to link a tutorial or two but couldn't find any.

Well if it's true then that can't be helped! It's okay. If there's a a lot of care and such required to make the jump from SMD to Gmod I'd rather leave that to the pros, don't really trust myself to do the hard parts right.
Maybe I could just test things instead or something... or maybe make a note of existing pokemon models that haven't been updated to the standards of the X/Y ports or something. If not I'll just sit back and wait...
I'm sure they're already well aware of which models haven't been updated to X/Y models and likely don't care as they are likely prioritizing pokemon and forms that haven't had models ported yet and Sun and Moon will come out before they port all of those and Sun and Moon will likely have further improved models and textures.

By the looks of it, Pokemon Go uses the same textures and models from the 3DS games.
Not entirely surprised by this, but the colors certainly look nicer. Less washed-out, at the very least.
IF Pokemon Go releases all of them...
They didn't say what the updates would contain did they?
The Pokemon Go app doesn't appear to be storing any of the Pokemon assests locally, probably to keep the download size reasonable and accommodate future planned updates.
I also wouldn't expect lots of new Pokemon updates rapidly because it would take a long time to develop and mess up the existing game model of collecting a lot of the same species
Well I wouldn't know anything about that. I haven't the slightest idea how people even rip models from apps or games that don't look like they store files locally but do (like SD Gundam Capsule Fighter Online I know someone who ripped models from that game even though there was no sign of them in the folders...).

Huh. Really? I wonder why they stick with the horrible washed-out look for the 3DS games?
Go and the 3DS games are designed by different artists for different enviroments and shaders.

Yeah, but the shaders are still better for Go, despite them being the same models.
Where IS RTB?
IIRC, RTB mostly hangs around in the VG Resource nowadays, doing a variety amount of work there.
Makes sense considering he rips models too (most of the models he ports to gmod were ones he ripped AFAIK). He's a big contributor to Models Resource.
That bugged eevee is actually kind of funny. All you need to do is draw a line between the eyes and it's wearing sunglasses.

That looks like the same situation I've seen with the Mewtwo model in Lucian's pack. I don't know how it looks on Mac, but on PC lighting seems to make face textures not work properly.
I have heard about that Mewtwo case. It looks like Lucian still hasn't resolved some of those issues yet by the looks of it.

Anyways, this case looks pretty similar to my case except this texture bug is only happening in Macs not in PCs, so I can't even debug it at all.
Don't hold your breath; my team and I have been trying to contact him in regards to fixing the placement of the god bone for his Lucario and Fox ports for months on end and he has yet to respond (even made a discussion thread on one of his posts addressing the issue with a couple of others stating they had the same problem and even one who tried to fix it, but to no avail.)
Will we get the other NPC trainers as ragdolls soon? They're ripped now. Just want to know.
For what it's worth:
Apologies for the small bump, but lately, I have been pondering for a while about what needs to improve the most in my Pokemon pack, but the problem is that I haven't been getting any feedback at all to justify any improvements other than porting new Pokemon models or making new skins.
So, I am going to ask this question to all of you. What do you think I need to improve in my pack? Like do the textures or the physmodel needs improvement? Be honest about this because I need to know what's wrong.
Hm. It's been a good long while since I've used GMod for posing, etc., so I'd need to get back into the shake of things to have a firm answer. Much of my time has been on the SFM front.
Just on the latter front there's nothing I've seen that's truly "wrong" with them. The most obvious thing I'd point out that would be nice to "fix," I think you already know -- the artificial patch shading, which I've done with only a few models. And I know it's not an easy task to pull off, which is why I'm not necessarily urging it to be done for the sake of your sanity, but if you're able to get assistance on that it could be worth pursuing.
I have no idea if eye (direction) posing is a thing for some of the models. Some obviously can't do it, but I do notice some creatures like Mewtwo and Fennekin have had that ability. It doesn't seem easy to do, but that's the opinion of someone with no experience porting or making models such as this...
But yeah, there hasn't been much I've seen that's really "wrong" with them. And again, I'd need to get reacquainted with GMod finagling to see whether problems exist there.
Not to mention, the XYORAS models that have eyeposing doesn't mix well when phong and lightwarp are applied. So, that adds another problem as well.
The issue is that eye area not matching the rest of the body color correct?
I tested it out, and you can't use $translucent or $alphatest with the Eyes shader. So the only other way is to remesh that square into the exact shape of the eye so it doesn't bleed over into the fur.
Phong works with transparency just fine, the problem is that the eyes have to use the special 'Eyes' shader instead of VertexLitGeneric or else the irises won't appear. And like I said that it's just that specific shader that doesn't support transparency.
To make things a bit easier you can duplicate the eye portion and edit that instead of the entire head.
I'm looking to animate Pokemon again some time after gen 7 models arrive.
So, in time, I might probably look up on how to port models as well, in addition to making my own. wohoo?
Just keep this thread alive, here's some more content since I am working on reworking Florges' textures since the current textures for Florges aren't that good IMO.

The colours look better already.
