• World Of Guns: Gun Disassembly - Model Ripping?

Wow, didn't expect this thread getting revived. (or maybe I did since I've seen people looking for WoGs models recently). I haven't been active for a while due to real life obligations, but I'm free now. I had PMs from the months after starting this thread, which I had answered. I feel obliged to share these messages since there are many questions that are frequently asked and I hadn't addressed them in the thread. 13th of November, 2016 - 23rd of January, 2017

Good day to you, Sir. I do believe, we face a similar problem. We cannot get the detailed weapon models from the game. I say we join forces so we can achieve our goal more easily. Have you been able to use any informations and methods from the thread you posted? Sincerely, Sarcophagus
Sorry for a late response. So far, NinjaRipper has been the most effective means of ripping the models, however you will need 3Ds Max to use the script that compiles the ripped mesh files into something usable (I'm using a student copy). However, NinjaRipper will create a lot of redundant files. You will have to manually sift through all the parts to put them together. I recommend using the duplicate file removing feature in CCleaner (the free version will do) as it will help get rid of any parts that are redundant. Then comes the most tedious part, importing all the models and assembling them. A lot of the models have internal meshes that fit the outside ones, usually rendered in an odd texture since it can't find the correct one. Parts will also be mirrored when imported, so you will also have to reverse this by mirroring the meshes. Also make sure the scale is set to 1 not 100. I still haven't finished fixing the AKS-74U model I imported. It's a massive mess...
No worries, thanks for the answer. I did try NinjaRipper, but when I press f10, nothing happens, I only get the log file. Do you have any advice on how to get it working?
I used the non-Steam version from the official website. I tried the Steam version. I think Steam interferes with Ninja Ripper. It closes it and reboots with the Steam client. I haven't found a way to get around it yet, which is disappointing since I got the Lifetime Access for the Steam version...
1st of March, 2017

Hello GM-Tecnicast, I read the whole thread about model ripping out of World of Guns. In https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1535217&p=51193007&viewfull=1#post51193007 you wrote that you managed it. But how exactly? If you have some time, please answer my questions. 1) Am I right that you have used Ninjy Ripper with standalone WOG (no specific .ivy or .unity3d needed for model extraction) and performed steps like described here http://p3dm.ru/tutorials/ripper/157-how-to-use-ninja-ripper-eng-upd-09122015.html ? What parameters were necessary? 2) Then you easily imported the models in 3DSmax and deleted the redundant duplicates? Were all the parts in the right place or did you need to shift them? 3) Were you able to make parts out of the 3DSmax model and 3D print them? Thank you in advance for your answers, you sincerely Bau_BoB

Bau_BoB
Yes, it only works with the PC standalone version that can be downloaded on the Noble Empire website. The Steam version has issues where launching it with Ninja Ripper will cause it to close and re-open with Steam, making Ninja Ripper null in that case, which was a shame since I got all the guns on the Steam version but then turned out it wouldn't work; I have yet to find a work-around to this. I used the default settings on the first try and it worked. I recommend using CCleaner to delete the redundant files. It has a duplicate file finder in tools which will delete all files that are similar according to the selected parameters (name, age, content, etc.) Search by content works best as the names are rather randomised.
2) Then you easily imported the models in 3DSmax and deleted the redundant duplicates? Were all the parts in the right place or did you need to shift them? Bau_BoB
All the parts will spawn in at their point of origin. This can be frustrating as they all pile up at the centre. You will have to meticulously dig through and re-assemble the model by it's meshes.
They would all spawn in the centre, so I had to pick them out and stick them together
Many of the parts (such as receivers and barrels) have an inside mesh with a plain texture that usually doesn't translate well and would usually be attached to the part. With these pieces, you can usually stick them together by aligning by origin. The shaders also won't port well...
Receiver meshes, inner and outer.
I group and name the parts and name them to save losing my mind in the mess of files all called "mesh_XXXX"
By the end, it might look something like this

3) Were you able to make parts out of the 3DSmax model and 3D print them? Bau_BoB
These models are by no means good for an working 3D printed model. The poly count is too small on round parts such as pins and rivets, so parts would literally be unable to move correctly, which defeats the purpose. I came to a conclusion that the models are going to have to be reworked from scratch to have something good enough for 3D printing. I tried my hand at using Solidworks (a toaatally legitimate copy xP) and I produced one part, the gas piston over the space of 4 hours... It was frustrating since I was very new to using it.
This took too long. I need to git gud.
I am unable to afford a 3D printer for personal use. Local print services in my area also seem to charge heaps; I wanted to print a handful of .50 BMG dummy rounds one time, and the quote was almost $100... Yeah, I don't think a Kalashnikov is gonna be cheap. My High School has a Makerbot z18, but you'd know that they'd freak out if anything gun-shaped came out of that printer. I'm mostly afraid that if I outsource the production of the parts, they might think I'm trying to build a working gun and get me into trouble. The state I'm in (NSW, Australia) has put laws in place regarding 3D printed firearms and CAD files related to them, meaning it could be risky even though it's not even suitable to use as an actual firearm. If it comes down to it, I'll have to make the model with traditional methods, like bending sheet metal, carving wood, casting aluminium and turning my own springs, which only some of which I can do currently... Which ironically, 3D printed plastic would be look less "threatening" than something made out of real wood and metal... Also ironic since a zip gun made from hardware store parts would be more effective than a plastic gun... and homemade TEC-9s have been found around here too. Guns are really simple and easy to make, but ammo is not. All want was models that were non-firing, like these... Sorry for the slightly ranty text dump. This stuff is getting in the way of my progress. :c I hope you find this helpful in some way.
9th of May, 2017

Hey GM_Tecnicast, I've taken a break for a while but I wanted to get back into ripping. I saw your post on how you successfully ripped World of Guns/Gun Disassembly with Ninja Ripper. https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1535217&p=51193007&viewfull=1#post51193007 Did it rip it with textures? If so, how did you do it and on which version? It didn't work with mine I would truly deeply appreciate your help!
Hey. I've been able to rip exclusively with the PC/non-steam version (found on the official website), but I didn't realise that merging the account with the Steam version had rendered that version inoperable for me. Ninja Ripper can't operate with Steam since it interferes with the launch. I haven't been able to figure out a work around so I can no longer do rips unless I make another account for that particular version and buy the premium to unlock all the weapons. Textures do rip, however only textures with a bitmaps seem to be okay. Any surfaces that had in-engine textures are replaced with another bitmap, making them appear unusual.
Since the last time I worked on this, I still had my old dying computer, which unfortunately suffered HDD failure so I haven't installed 3DS Max on my new machine yet (which reminds me that I should do that now). I uploaded a .zip file containing the 3DS Max project file of the AKS-74U in several versions to dropbox a few months ago to get feedback on a 4chan /k/ thread on CAD modelling. Link to it here. As I mentioned in many comments, I could not get the steam version of the game to work with Ninja Ripper (and I foolishly had merged my standalone account with steam, thus making me unable to use Ninja Ripper as I did before). Since I hadn't touched it since May in the latest, I haven't tried a method that was recently brought up in a thread from July. Somehow, placing a some .dll file somewhere in the same directory as the game will allow Ninja Ripper to launch with games on Steam (?). I don't quite understand how to perform this method since I haven't tried it yet. I had pretty much had a completed the model in 3DS Max from the ripped files and I learned more as I went along. I found that since the models were designed with game intentions in mind (low poly, parts clipping, etc), they would work very poorly as a working model so I started looking into CAD and technical drawings more and more instead. I found some original Russian AK-47/AKM technical drawings and have been working to get information on the AKS-74U pattern rifles. I had ended coming across a part of the papercraft community which is largely concerned with creating working models of firearms completely from paper, glue and other inexpensive materials. Most are from America and Russia Here is a really good example from a man from Russia: http://only-paper.ru/forum/14-16398-1

I might consider using this method of manufacturing over 3D printed models since it is far more inexpensive and flexible however it is not as convenient.
Thanks for updating with your experiences GM_Tecnicast. For ppl wanting to rip WOG models: - What is needed is the PC standalone version found on WOG webisite. Install this and if you own the Steam version there is a possiblility to transfer progress from Steam account to the standalone version. Iinfo here > http://noble-empire.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=2091 The Standalone is a seperate install and this is where you put Ninja to work.

If you want the rip files, ask me. I know Kali wants an Armalite AR-180, so I can get that too since I have full access, save for the bonus vehicles.
Good RD-work right there! Your M16 looks assembled - was that the way it came out from the ripping process or did you have to assemble it yourself ? All of my gun part come out in origo...

All of my gun part come out in origo...
It's not assembled, that's just how it came out (don't know what kind of M16 you've seen to say that's assembled). Most of the parts are clumped onto the origin, but some of the parts were ripped with the points of origin offset relative to the part, like the how Bolt Carrier and Upper Receiver have their points of origin aligned with each other. I don't know exactly why this is so, but the origin point on this part in particular lines up with the pin for it to hinge would be. I guess might be inherited from the animations or just how it was modelled. [t]https://i.imgur.com/PP3bypa.png[/t] In spite of having the rip interval set to one, duplicates are still created as you can see they are inside of each, causing that horrible clipping. I used CCleaner to get rid of the extra duplicates, but there are still duplicates that have a different texture applied.
WOAH! Really a great job. I'll clean up any duplicates with CCleaner and then dump the files into separate .zip files to upload.

Then it can be saved as 3ds or whatever for use in your favourite 3D prog.
Don't know why but i ripped models in steam version. Also if you set rip interval to 1 you never get so much duplicates as default. Also again can someone with full access rip the OSV-96 and upload it. I will sort it out myself. Just rip it in disassembled mode. Thanks in advance! Oh and last thing, on p3dm.ru is ripped AS-VAL and it HAS bump/normal maps. EDiT: My unfinished OSV-96 with internal parts. I just stuck at magazine parts so i need model from WOG.
Oh and last thing, on p3dm.ru is ripped AS-VAL and it HAS bump/normal maps.
Those normal maps would have been made from the diffuse texture. - There are no normalmaps in WOG, just look at the models ingame, there are no fine details evident there, except whats achieved through diffuse textures.
Next one... Doesn't look sweet so?.. Und Walther P99
I Finally got to the OSV-96. meh...
You are better off getting the SGW3 one.
SGW3 model is inaccurate, but it has good texture of wood stock. Already ripped with H2O when BETA starts.
Innacurate how?
hi,comrade could you pls show us how to get those models from WOG?
Innacurate how?
I mean WTF is this? I can skip that uter magazine. But in overal it doesn't look legit... Also CI games have unlicenced models. Probably they don't want pay for copyright... Here is my render.
I would still take the SGW3 one since I need one that could be made into a swep for my friend. Many people do not like the idea of paying gun makers for copyright. That's why CS games before GO had wonky names for their guns.
hi,comrade could you pls show us how to get those models from WOG?
I just use ninjaripper 1.7.1. As 3D program I use 3DS Max since there is good plugin for it called 3dmax_GIMS_importer. Just make sure you have set these settings when import rip files. @ShadyDub YES! I have also FN 57 and many more... Still must fix some things like vertexs and smoothing errors. Ohh finally assembled.... It took me half of day.

No I just read you message and respond. BTW I don't have full access. I just grinding quizzes and have some credits from special operations. Now I have unlocked RPG-7 and Saiga 12K.

I just buy full access for 18E. Ripfest can began muhuhahahaa... ;)
Oh, I did not see your answer. This MP-443 Grach seems very good, but there's some good models of this also on Gamebanana. About your full access, this means that you can get all the models available? Anyway, I have to ask you a thing: could you rip the models I need? Then I'll provide by myself to reassembling the model correctly.
