Alright, just wanted to make sure.
https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?p=43537928#post43537928 Somebody got soldier camos out of BF4. A lot of useful stuff there. Will vectorize the ones that pique my interest.
Got some more BF4 camos. Tounushi totally hijacked this thread! :p [editline]22nd October 2015[/editline] @ Tounushi Do you have any plans for doing a realistic version of the Type 07 Chinese camo?
Do you have any plans for doing a realistic version of the Type 07 Chinese camo?
When I have figured out the pattern from the samples given. They're oddly scarce. [editline]22nd October 2015[/editline] [t]http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o37/TKB1/facepunch%20forums%20skin%20resources/rect3027_zpsgsdflzjz.png[/t] Got the Latvian police/border guard pattern figured out and ready for vectorization. IF I'm correct in my assumption, it uses a rare 1/3 diagonal repeat shift. Meaning that the tile is moved "up" by a third of the height measure when it repeats on the horizontal. This is the pattern that MGS3's Water is emulating. Figure that, early '90s Latvian (meaning ex-USSR) paramilitary pattern standing in as a pre-1960s West-German military pattern in 1964.

[editline]22nd October 2015[/editline]
Yeah, I know exactly what you are talking about. I had to make player textures for the Alpha Project mod for Battlefield 2 using the newer Type 07 camo pattern, and almost nowhere I could find references. I started out by using the few references I had, about 2 images or so, and managed to make this: Luckily someone else made a completed pattern for me which really looks good, but it isn't so realistic like the way you would make your camo. He only tried to imitate the style of the camo and when I used it in my player textures, it actually didn't turn out to be that bad:
The biggest question I have in terms of the pattern is whether or not it uses the same size pixels throughout the pattern. If it does, I think I have enough material to brute-force a pattern out of it all, but if there are narrow pixels there as well...
All of the colours have the exact same pixel size overall. I looked upon several references, low quality and high quality, and it doesn't seem to be different in terms of size. Anyways, if you have the time and the will, then I'd really be excited to see with what you can come up in terms of a high quality recreation. :)
Here's a couple of interesting pics of camo in the upcoming Deus Ex game.
Looks like digitalised, elongated multicam
That's what I was thinking as well. But the question is, are the gradients pixelated or do the pixels have gradients?
That's what I was thinking as well. But the question is, are the gradients pixelated or do the pixels have gradients?
IMO from looking at the image, it looks like the pixels have gradients. The edges of the gradients appear to be sharp but with in the edges it appears to be a gradient, that's how it appears to my eye. They also might be trying to simulate wear or perhaps dirt smudges on the pattern to signify prolonged use of the equipment.
You know what, unless somebody gains access to the actual test BDUs, I don't think I'll ever figure out the full tile used for DualTex. I'll just post the pieces I've figured out and let's see what you guys can do with them. Each square on the pattern is 2 inches (?) per side.
This might help. I think it's for the vehicles though.
I just want to say again how much you and Tounushi helped me with my editing work after finding your thread. Also, Tounushi, sorry if I've been seeming hounding about the Black Shark; I recently realized how hard it was to find, and am fine with it not being on here. Your work is freaking awesome, as is Rusty's. If ANYONE here wants a G-Mod reskin or something of the sort, just send me a steam message and such. I also do Dark Souls 1 stuff, but I don't have ALL of the weapons and armors, so you may need to do the testing for me. I coult theoretically do Dark Souls 2 if its the same as Dark Souls 1, but I do not own it myself, and you will have to provide the texture for me to edit. And I do this all For FREE. As in no cost. ...Sorry, I'll stop advertising myself. I just love doing this type of work.

Hmmm. Tounushi, Rusty. You guys think we could add to the main posts on the front page all the camo's that have been made since then? Just a curiosity.
I'm too lazy to write it up right now, but updating the extender can be done, yes. So much stuff to add though.
If you make a extender I will be in love with you.

@Tounushi If you have spare time from all your hard work.. here's another request wh0ring from me. It's called "DM3", a pre-AOR1 camouflage pattern. It's more rusty looking than the current AOR1. It's the one on the left.
Hmmm. Tounushi, Rusty. Here's a rare initial WIP. G.I.Joe [t]http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o37/TKB1/facepunch%20forums%20skin%20resources/Fictional%20GI%20Joe_zpstfz6nstw.png[/t] And another one I got just yesterday, ready for vectorization.
Would it be possible to make the grunts "anti-camo" from HL1?
I got the Blue Shift version, though.
@ Tounushi The Splitter camo in default Half-Life was already posted here as far as I know. It is a derivative of the Swedish M90 camo. As for the one you got ready for vectorization, that specific camo was in the High Definition pack of Half-Life. I am not quite sure on which real life pattern that is based on. It has ERDL shapes, so I guess another fictional camo perhaps? Lastly, I am almost done with the Soldier 2000 vectorization. I only need to fix some of the consistency errors I made, and then as a final step I have to make it seamless. Overall, your method of tiling all the references together like a puzzle really helps a lot when making realistic camo!
The original HL1 camo is likely not based off anything in specific, it's just generic angular camouflage. In the HD packs (and BS/OF) it's slightly more well-defined, but I still doubt it's based off anything in specific.

Got some more BF4 stuff churned from that soldier pack. I'm guessing the tile is 20in per side. Could be wrong. Tounushi your patterns from the previous pages titled very well. I just tried using it as my wallpaper just recently.. horray! LOL :)

They are really close to the BF4 version, if not exactly the same. My only problem with these are the fact that they are not even closely resembling the real life Type 07 camouflage. DICE really need to bump up their standards when it comes to camos. BF3 had much better and realistic versions compared to BF4.
