Rusty told me that one method is to take the normal maps, make them greyscale, and overlay them onto the camo that is already overlaid onto the base texture you're editing. I don't know the full details, but if you ask him I'm sure he'll either walk you through it or help you out since he's a pretty cool dude.
The way I do it is take the original texture, desaturate it and adjust the brightness so it's at generally about a mid grey, then put the camo layer on top, set it to overlay. Then with the normal map, to get the most out of it, you should do this: 1. Use the "cavity from normal" action from the nDo plugin to get a cavity map; 2. Copy the Red, Green and Blue channels seperately and put them each in a separate layer; 3. Desaturate the layer that has the full normal map; 4. Reduce the brightness of the Red and Green channel layers by -25; 5. Reduce the brightness of the Desaturated full normal map layer by -65; 6. Now you should have 5 layers, set them all to overlay, except the blue channel, which should be set to multiply and put them all on your texture. Right now all the overlays will be way too strong, so you should then adjust the opacity of each layer to a point where it looks right. I would suggest making a photoshop action out of this so you don't have to do the steps every time. Then you can just open the normal map, run the action and move all the layers from that to your texture. Also it's a good idea to put those 5 layers into a group in your file so they don't get in your way. [editline]24th September 2014[/editline] Oh yeah, also you might wanna break up the pattern along where the seams on whatever clothing you're putting are would be to make it look more natural.
I'm working mainly with GIMP, but since I also have Photoshop, I'll try to figure it out on that. I'm sure the steps aren't THAT much different. Still, this is a great start, thanks a bunch.
Ok Rusty, I have managed to make camo for Gendarmerie and PTJ, by editing your Surpat and Marpat textures, and it turned out ok. So you would be my hero if you did the M10, without asking for a million bucks :)
Wouldn't it be better to put the camo on multiply?
Oh hey, you're actually right. There isn't that big of a difference but it does get applied a little bit cleaner that way.
Wouldn't it be better to put the camo on multiply?
I tend to just use a camo layer over the greyscale texture on multiply, with a light grey colour overlay (on overlay) to emulate fading. Saves me having to mess with dickloads of extra layers, and looks like a faded uniform.
Could we get Arma 3 camo's from AAF and OPFOR? Opfor's hex camo, but Or the AAF camo.
Could we get Arma 3 camo's from AAF and OPFOR?
Here ya go, I found these a while back while going through the BI forums. I take no credit for creating the patterns. Enjoy
Wouldn't it be better to put the camo on multiply?
What I do is that I put it on multiply, make a new layer above it full with 100% white, and set it to overlay so it brightens things a bit.

Enjoy

Those are both for CSAT and AAF infantry, not the vehicles
Not only that, but the second one is the beta pattern for infantry. (actually no nevermind it isn't) Unfortunately I don't think anyone has made vehicle versions. I'll check though.
Bugger, worth a shot though at least. They can't be too different though.
They both simply add or remove a colour - CSAT's vehicle scheme is the infantry scheme upscaled, and without the darker brown. AAF's vehicle scheme takes the infantry scheme and adds brown. Shouldn't be too hard to modify from existing ones.

There's a Skorpion W2 pattern on this page already.
Hello, i'm not sure if someone already made this request but the Australian Army has launched a new camouflage called the AMCU (Australian Multicam Camouflage Uniform). I am requesting if someone could make this camouflage. If you can, thanks. Picture of it:
