And of course, the first reply immediately criticizes me. Yeah, okay, it looks like shit, and probably is just shit anyway, but not everybody is awesome at mapping, okay? Would you criticize a retarded kid for drawing a firetruck that doesn't even remotely look like a firetruck? (Note: I am NOT a retarded kid.) No, you wouldn't. Well, maybe you might. I don't know. You don't have to go making stupid/rude remarks about other peoples' work (doesn't matter if it's their best creation ever, or if they're just learning something). Also, did I claim anywhere in my post that this map has awesome lighting, looks really nice, and is the best thing since sliced bread? No, I don't think I did. </QQ> Try to offer some constructive criticism, m'kay? And hey - just because you DON'T like it, doesn't mean nobody else will. Oh, and, y'know, at least it's a change from the constant stream of shitty adv. dupe cars and "KILL BREEN LOLZ" saves (which are sometimes only the .TGA file) uploaded to garrysmod.org every day.
Perhaps you get the impression that being a good mapper is a blessing. These types of maps are not something you release (or show as WIP either for that matter) to the community, nobody will ever play it. You only ask for constructive criticism if you can't find a problem with the map yourself. If you knew what was bad about it, you should have improved it until you thought it was acceptable. If you want to learn how to make good maps, read the mapper's encylopedia.
And of course, the first reply immediately criticizes me. Yeah, okay, it looks like shit, and probably is just shit anyway, but not everybody is awesome at mapping, okay?.
There's nothing good to say about it, so you should just expect criticism.

If you thought the map was shit to begin with, why did you bother releasing it?
Alright, well maybe my definition of "constructive criticism" is a bit warped. When I think "constructive criticism", I think "politely stating one's grievances with something, and suggesting a way to fix it", not "stating every little problem you have with something in a rude manner, and calling the creator an idiot for not making it perfect the first time around".
There is no "constructive criticism" on this map. It's a giant box with a tapered floor, I can't possibly see how it could get any real detail or purpose to it.
...and not every map has to be as epic as gm_atomic and the Evocity maps...
If every map was as detailed as gm_atomic, I'd die and go to heaven. And as for evocity, when you have to modify the game to play the map, it doesn't make it "epic", it makes it "fail". Evocity was just an overhyped map created by two idiots with big egos, and you can tell how un-popular it is because only 6 servers run it and only one of them actually has any players in it.
people on facepunch have no lifes. they all think that if your map is not as good as theirs, they should break there computer. just blow it off.
people on facepunch have no lifes. they all think that if your map is not as good as theirs, they should break there computer. just blow it off.
Actually dude, i go out every day and work for cash, i don't just hang around on facepunch waiting for the next idiot to post a map. I work by the principle that there is always room for improvement. In my time i have found essentially a crash in gm_orbit v3 and several issues in pretty much all those maps you have ever looked up to. I thought that atomic was just a massive anticlimax. Once you accept that, as a mapper, there is always room for improvement, you will be much better for it.
people on facepunch have no lifes. they all think that if your map is not as good as theirs, they should break there computer. just blow it off.
Dude, I go to work most days of the week and catch up with mates on the other days. Normally find myself clubbing every second weekend too.
people on facepunch have no lifes. they all think that if your map is not as good as theirs, they should break there computer. just blow it off.
Way to judge all of facepunch when you yourself know nothing about all our lives.

One thing the OP really has to get is that if YOU yourself think that the map is bad, you should obviously not post it, work on it until it has an acceptable amount of detail and realism, then post it. I actually didn't post anything I made for a few months since I started learning how to map. The map I posted was something I was working on for a few months, not half an hour. The point being that 1) mapping is not a blessing, it is an acquired skill. Sure, some people understand it easier than others, but everyone can learn 2) quality mapping takes time, and you should take longer than a few hours making it.

@op: Hot damn! Crazy fool must have divided by zero again!
Eh? if this is wip. When this map will be finished (in like 5minutes or so. looks like a 5min map.) I bet it wouldnt get any downloads. not more than 10. The truth. You better start on something new and intresting.
