I should make a mapping playlist. I listen to some jam bands, the occasional classic rock, and Pandora sometimes.
Usually VG music. Mario, Vigilante 8, anything on Super Smash Bros, Halo, etc. But a long list of stuff. Just depends on my mood.
Somebody make a techno mapping playlist and post a download of it on garrysmod.org/downloads. I usualy listen to techno but there might be more I want to hear that others got.
Techno and Electric Light Orchestra. Weird combo.
Do I have to post it? I feel like people will make fun of me...
I usually put iTunes on shuffle when I map. I just recently got the Beatles Boxed Set, so naturally iTunes has been playing a lot of Beatles for me. I don't really care what song plays, as I don't really pay attention to the song, the beat just helps me keep a pace, I usually skip slower songs.
My own music :D http://www.youtube.com/user/Propsareawesome0
I'm surprised nobody's put Still Alive up yet.

Recently I've been listening to Prodigy's Fat of the Land album, but it's changed over time. Years ago when I was new to mapping I remember listening to some of Madonna's older stuff (Let's Get Unconscious for example) but I don't know what else it's been. Every time I hear a song I mapped to though it brings back memories.

Philip Glass
Depends on the map for me. Sometimes some ambience, such as Carbon Based Lifeforms or Solar Fields and sometimes techno or anything that is completely random!
When mapping i mostly listen to The prodigy, Jimi hendrix and diffrent Metal songs.
Sometimes when I map for l4d2, I listen to Chocolate Helicopters. But when I map for other games, I have a special Modding playlist in Itunes.
GOD I need more of this!

I found some radio stations website that let's you listen to their station on the internet. Rock103.com classic rock all the way. Also, for playlist makers playlist.com has a ton of shit and it runs faster than YouTube on my pc.
I love to listen to the black mesa mod soundtrack as well. It has some great atmosphere to it and is excellent for mapping purposes.
I spend more time looking for music to listen to than I do actually mapping sometimes. :( I wish I could listen to the in-game soundscapes while I map. I just love the atmosphere in some of them.

I forgot to mention in my post earlier in the thread, I also listen to Podcast 17 a lot while I'm mapping. I like it even though it is not music!
I tend to listen to Lamb of God, Devildriver, Cavalera Conspiracy, Ektomorf, Divine Heresy, Unearth, Godsmack, Threat Signal, Job for a Cowboy, Sylosis, a little Roadrunner United, some Pulse 8, God Forbid, Chimaira, and a little Slipknot. Though I prefer Thrash Metal and Melodic Death Metal I'll listen to almost any metal as long as they have rhythm and it sounds cool.
I usually listen to cage the elephant.
I've been listening to them a lot lately as well. But it's just anything that I listen to, I just choose a random album.
Children Of Bodom currently, but anything that I currently like does the trick.
Suddenly started listening to a lot of nightwish while mapping...for some reason 10th man down is the inspiration song....
I downloaded this song, and made it to be re-played all the time, so it's kinda my apartments background music. Really cool. Main theme from Splinter Cell Double Agent.
