Small question: can you import those systems in Garry's Mod? Or does Garry need to add support first?
If it was possible to save these, then yeah. It would be very much possible.
Nothing too spectatacular yet. I guess people will ramp it up when we have a working save function.

Once saving particle systems works, you'll be able to use these with the info_particle_system entity, which is workable but less than ideal. Last I talked to Garry, he said he was going to add Lua binds for the new particle engine but he didn't know when.
This will be awesome :uhoh: can't wait to get my good pc fixed :(
Think big explosions, huge smoke trails that can be seen anywhere on the map... the possibilities are endless (or not) It's a damn shame about not being able to save :geno:
I hope they're optimized, particles tend to eat FPS on the lower end systems. But even if they're not, I'll still be loving them. :love:

As long as particle systems are under 1000 particles, they're lagless.
More than that, and it gets bad (Rain has 5,000 particles)

Looks pretty good so far! I'm still trying to figure out how to manipulate a particle's movement path.
Why would you add sparks to an explosion? Because yeah, I'd definitely go with a flare instead of sparks lol.

I would see no reason for sparks. So its gonna be like a red flare.

Right click on ep2 in steam, go to properties, click "set launch options". Add "-tools" and close. Then launch ep2. You could also edit the shortcut by adding "-tools" after the last quotation mark in the field.
Finally! I have got the hang of this!
I made a simple but pretty cool explosion, pics will come soon. I have saved most of the properties in a word document so that later when I open up the particle editor I will know how to recreate my old particles. :D

Now that we can save it'd be nice to see some of these ingame.
I am just compiling my map now, so that I can test out my smoke.
I decided just to change some settings on the bonfire particle.
It looks good, but I don't know how a 2000 unit tall pillar of smoke will act on the engine. Especially when it is scaled because it is in the skybox.
I need to find the thing that scales radius as the lifetime increases.
