Nice one ned, that's from a regular server not a local one, right? They will have to make a new section on FPSBanana now for custom effects.
It's a local one, but it works online. Edit: Oh. Haha. Yeah I used host_timescale .2, and then I can move faster then the rocket. (o.0)
You mean phys_timescale? :P Also see if you can make the rings coming from the rocket distort somewhat, like creating turbulence.

Hmm, all these new particles look cool. I hope some one will make some kind of wicked explosion like mine :excited:
I love this program! It was hard in the begining, but once I got the hang of it, it became simple! I made this particle effect from scratch, I did not copy any files and the sprites are custom.
How do you make buildings and such explode? Like they do in Episode 2?
Pre-animated models, possible to make in for example 3D Studio Max.
Gah, bullshit! So you're telling me if I wanna blow shit up the good and proper way I have to learn to model for source?
That's crap. I think it'd be more interesting if it could deform solid brushes used in hammer.
Oh wow, this thing is impressive. I'll post some later, first I'll need to figure out how it works :D
You can't make them deform and shit like you can with the models though, that's what I'm getting at.
Uhh, yes you can. Displacements.
Displacements can't be tied to entities so I don't expect we'll see any exploding displacements any time soon. Won't see any deforming in real time with displacements either. So no bending girders and the like. Models are generally needed for that kind of thing.
There is an entity that can modify displacements though.
Really? I'm gonna go look at this. Got it's name handy? Edit: env_terrainmorph perchance?
Really? I'm gonna go look at this. Got it's name handy? Edit: env_terrainmorph perchance?
I think so.
Ok, I know how to open it but I don't get anything. How/where do i make my particles, and how do I put them the way i want??
There is more discussion of how it all works here: http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/showthread.php?t=550481
Been fiddling with some of the TF2 particles - latest effort, a modded crit-sticky effect.
I don't get this at all. Gonna google a tut.
I don't get this at all. Gonna google a tut.
The only tutorials are on this forum.
I don't get this at all. Gonna google a tut.
Good luck finding one. :p
Oh that would be awesome, a cloud effect a few meters above the player with snow falling in a small area around them. Highly comic, just not very realistic.
If you do it right it could actually look perfect. Games have done that before, just create some heavy snow around the player and appears to him that it's snowing everywhere. You can't see depth on a computer screen after all.
Snow affects eh? Have to check this out, maybe make some fire/smoke effects that could be used in mass without a bunch of lag.
No lag snow is simple. Set origin of particles to Player(Movement lock), adjust a couple vectors, and have the particles spawn in a square box slightly over the players eyes. Using this I created a rain/snow effect of 100-200 particles, whereas the same effect covering the entire area would take thousands.
But if you look what at the ground you wouldn't see it hit.
Yes, you do. I've made it. You add a basic movement with -50 to -100 gravity in the Z axis. I know what I'm doing :S. Plasma Core video comin soon!
First attempt at using particle editor :(
