Does anyone know where the hell the blood effect is for the combine soldiers
I can't find it in the ep2/particles folder
It's in the 'source 2007 shared materials' gcf.
Hi!
I just started to use the particle editor yesterday and I think it's phenomenal. However, I'm currently working on dynamic water. I hope you like it:

Oh my god, Jlea doesn't know something?
*dies*
It looks like it's a regular particle system with "Collide with world" or something like that set. I'm sure it's easy to do.
I'll look into it tomorrow.

I just started using the particle editor yesterday :v:
But it's really easy, I've already made some custom blood effects and a grenade shockwave ripple.
I still can't make heads or tails of it :(
I applied for the SDK Beta, but have no idea how to access the new things! :(
I want to try and use particle editor, but have no idea how to get to it, what do i need to do?
go to your orange box game (tf2, portal, ep2), right click it, so properties. Click the box that says set launch options. Type -tools. Open.

On your steam games list, click on any orange box engine game, and select 'properties' in the steam tabs. Then, when a small winodw comes up, select 'set launch options' and write '-tools' without the quotes into it. Then run the game and select the particle editor from a dropdown list at the top of the screen.
Beaten :P
Does anyone know how you can parent the object to the point? It's hard to explain, I'm using the blood spurt and at the moment you can shoot the combine but if he moves the blood keeps spraying for about 1 second in the same spot. How do I make it so it moves with the combine?

It's pretty easy, I think Jangalomph made one on another thread, otherwise just look at effects made by valve.
Where would I find effects made by valve?
In the GCF, just extract them.
I don't seem to be having any luck when editing the water impact particles... :(
They appear like they will work in the editor, but don't show in game.
I'm looking for the waterfall particle. Anybody know it's name?

I'm not looking at the editor right now, but I'm sure I saw something like that floating around in constraints or operators. Will be back.
There's a Movement Lock to Bone operator. I haven't tried it but it sounds right.
We need a core like in Episode 1!
Where can I get this editor? /repeat
Got it can't DO anything though. :/
Scroll up.

Has somebody tried an Stargate "kawoosh"?
How the heck do you use this thing?
It sucks, but it's my first. :v:

Also, this may help some people. :)
1. Create a new name thing.
2. Select that drop down box. And in it get the render. In render right click and click add. and with in that add the thing that is like Render_animated_sprites.
Now go to the properties tab thing. And Click on the 3 little dots. Make the texture one of the fires you want. and you are done with that.
3. Go to operators: and add movement basic, And lifetime dull "i think?"
4. Go to initializers and add : lifetime random, color random, and position with in box.
5. Click emitters and add emit_continuously.
6. in the life time random. In max life time type in like 5
7. Make the animation time in the render_animated_sprites 1
