Not really, I think you're pretty known around here.
I too must struggle to obtain full renown :monocle: And, maybe this task is too big at your skill level? but of course, it's good practice to do... well, anything.
Both Zyx and chills are well known I believe
I'm relatively well known but everyone ignores me :downs:. To the OP: add decals, architecture, better use of textures, props and you will be a king among mappers.
I'm relatively well known but everyone ignores me :downs:. Funny how this thread suddenly goes about how popular we think we are. :v:
When I mentioned that Facepunch was open to new mappers, I was referring to help. The mapping forum is a great place to get help from experienced mappers. Your reputation has nothing to do with it. Who cares if someone knows who you are? This isn't a place to gain popularity because you think you deserve some.

Replace those pillars with containers, if I remember right, that was what they werew in the original, but I'm not sure. The massive thingy you have that Snake was supposed to crawl under at the start doesn't really fit, make something out of brushes for that, gives you more freedom.
i am making it that you crouch under
i am making it that you crouch under
Or prone?
i have change the floor to a more matalic theme
Prone? You can't go prone in gmod. Only crouch.
Prone? You can't go prone in gmod. Only crouch.
Someone can create a script or something.
To be honest I was better when I was twelve, and it doesn't make any difference, you can't use it as an excuse. He needs to get better at mapping before he attempts to take on big projects like this.
Metal Gear Solid 1 ISNT big :P
Yeah but that would take a while and frankly prone is not an important enough position to write a whole script about. I say it would be a waste of time. Metal Gear Solid may not be big, but did you even witch that video posted by Booce. It would take some time to get the area to look like it should. Just because the size of the area is small, doesn't make the project any easier.
I think it rocks man. People on here are harsh =] I know Liam, and I think his mapping skills are brilliant for a 12 year old. Edit: better than me and I'm 22
I'm 13, and I can map, model, skin and code for source. All of these I do to a high standard and independently. Age is not a large factor in many skills.
Well, I found it easy to fit in when I started mapping here, so in my opinion you lie that he lies :v:
So did i. But my maps didn't suck. I used my brain and decided, oh wait a minute, I wouldn't want to play this myself in any game, so why would anyone else like it? Maybe I should add more detail and learn how to map better on my own by looking up tutorials! (User was banned for this post (Reason: Encourage and advise.) High Five. No seriously, that's a point a lot of new mappers need to learn. Don't post it, if you wouldn't play on it.
Here's a small vmf I whipped up to help you with your detail problems(there is more detail I could have added but this is just to show you a couple things you can do). Make things realistic. Think of where something is and what is used to keep it up. Like supports, trusses, footings etc. Use google images or something to gather an understanding for your project. You have slightly over 8000 brushes you can use. On a map this little don't go skimpy on them. Don't over do it though or there could be issues there too. For the rest of you either encourage and give advice or shut the fuck up.
Found several images from another forums that will assist you. http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee243/nitrojew/SHADOWMOSESHELIPORT_3.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee243/nitrojew/SHADOWMOSESHELIPORT.jpg
thanks sgt.sgt this will really help me. You to prototstar Edit: just for future work how am i going to do phsyco mantis?
What do you mean? Remaking that area? I would shoot you some more photos of Shadow Moses on Metal Gear Solid 4 but I lost my save data in a format.
What do you mean? Remaking that area? I would shoot you some more photos of Shadow Moses on Metal Gear Solid 4 but I lost my save data in a format.
Why, why format your save datas! Anyway this looks like it could be slightly better as mentioned, btu I would like to see MGS1 in Source, it could look great. So keep up the work!
sgt.sgt is it ok if i could use some things from your map into mine?
Hahah I think the answer is no.
Why, why format your save datas! Anyway this looks like it could be slightly better as mentioned, btu I would like to see MGS1 in Source, it could look great. So keep up the work!
I uh, was trying to install a linux OS on to my PS3 without a guide. =\
Ew. Why would you install linux on a PS3? That's like scratching pearlescent paint off a Ferrari.
