Right, 512 units wide, tall and long as the playable area. Everything else can be cosmetic.

A vignette is a very precise focus on a very small scene or aspect of a scene.
In this context it means a nice-looking, small but highly detailed scene, its focus on detail and beauty rather than playability and rationale.

Making maps is a lot faster when you're working with a small area, I'm about halfway through with mine.

3 floors. on the first Ct's spawn on the third T's spawn, you can also shoot the enemy from the windows if you get a little bit out. and I made a 3d skybox as you can see in the pictures it's really 512x512x512.
It's not yet finished. A few things still suck like the lightning and places to hide behind when you get shot at. but I'll fix that later. here are some pics for now.

It is playable but it's kind of boring because it would just be shooting stairs action and that's not really fun. That's why I'll place more furniture tomorrow.

In doom would be harder because you can't have multiple floors above eachother easy. you can have higher floors though.
I will get started on this this weekend! Deadline is the 16th, right?
I think this might be the first map I ever finish.
Everyone has to start small and work their way up to bigger maps right? ;D

you might add some interior walls to divide up the floors.
also, the stairs seem way too big. I think 8 units high, 12 units long is the size of the steps in most valve maps.
