I'd actually have to disagree here. I am a very serious roleplayer, and fixing machines, talking to people, and guarding things can be fun at times. The possibilities are endless.
One thing I'd like to do is make a few generator rooms, and if they arent regularly serviced by maintenance teams (i.e putting plugs where they should go.), Certain lights would go out or things would stop working, it would do a pass every 20 minutes and make a descision wether to make a plug fall out or not, but I thought this would be a bit annoying, any opinions?
you should also use I/O on light switches and machines around the map and if too many in an area are on at once it blows the fuse and the whole area loses power until its fixed :D
Maybe have one class as aperture science Spies! they have to sabotage the machines and collect informations on black mesa.
Scientists can be normal civvys and guards can be the cops, then breen is the administrator (like usual)
You should also have machines generate something so its actually worthwhile to keep them going all the time and so the scientists can make money.
breen could also have a budget for every 10 minute periods and allocates money to certin projects, including his slush fund for retirements :]
