Icredible! I am going to download this when I get home. You get a "mapping king" award.
Thank you all for the great feed back :D

I have to tell you man... Your map is awesome.
I have to tell you man... Your map is awesome.
:D Thank you. But I will be fixing a lot and adding more if I can. I just hope that error doesn't come back up. I need to do a lot of detail work as well.
AWESOME! I'm making this thread a favourite in my Browser. I'll check up on it tomorrow when I have more time. This map would work nicely for Sandbox too I think, maybe.
Amazing, this is an awesome first mapping attempt, I must say. When I get around to it I'll have to download this.
Pretty fucking good for a first map, it fills my heart with joy to see new mappers putting effort into their first released creations.

AA is off. They are budget cards. I am upgrading to a 4870 soon and maybe getting a 2nd one when I switch to a better Mobo. Would be better since I don't have PCI-E 2 Edit:
Pretty fucking good for a first map, it fills my heart with joy to see new mappers putting effort into their first released creations.
It will be done soon. I hope anyway :D
It looks good from all of the post pictures. I'm downloading that "beta" map, so I'll let you know what's up. Again, good job on the mapping 30-aught!
After playing the map, I have a few suggestions to make:

Label the less obvious buttons, like the lock/unlock buttons
Perhaps use a different model for the elevator to the town, on the server I was on not everyone had Episode 1 so they saw an error instead
Add a wedge-shaped player_clip brush to the stairs from the water to the hangar. Without it, the player noticeably bounces up and down on each step, whereas with it it's a smooth ride up them. I think all of Valve's maps do this, can't remember though.
The buttons I need to get around to labeling. And the wedge for the stairs is an awesome idea :D Thanks! For the buttons, I think the Left one unlocks and the right one locks.
EPIC WIN. THIS MAP IS MADE OF EQUAL PARES ADRENALINE AND AWESOMENESS. King'd!
The Source is strong in this one. But seriously, amazing work, especially for a first map. I anticipate the release of this thing.
Ok just played it! It is awesome! great job
Sorry that I never came back. I like the map a lot, just the fort has a lot of open space. So I don't know if you'll put things around in there to give it a sense of "closure" or something.. I'm not sure, but either way, I'm digging your map. Props once more.

In the first image, the part with the walkway on the left of the base, I would add windows into it so it can act as protective cover. If there are windows on the other side, I'd still recommend some on both.
Never mind wrong part I was thinking of, do you mean the walkway over the wall?
Yea that part. Sorry, wasn't quite sure what to call it. I just think that instead of it being so enclosed, it could be used to help defend the fort from any attacks.

You are not a hammer newbie. You are a hammer newbie GOD! I can't make even half of what you have done, and I'm not exactly new to hammer. Just wanted to suggest that maybe you could make some Easter egg spots. Like deep caves in certain places in the rock, or underwater hideout with airlocks. Also, you could use a little more fog, so the player's vision is limited a little more. And; do I dare ask it; a clean, simple 3dskybox. Waite… Do you have any idea how gm_tornadochase made that tornado that chooses random paths? It would be cool if dust devils randomly formed in areas, ripped apart some contraption, then dissipate into thin air… I still don't believe this is your first map, but good job :D

The tornado idea is really sweet, but I can't do that :P I am still working on the map here and there till I get it done. The fog will be turned up a bit also. The 3d skybox idk how to do. And yes it is my first map with 3 months of hard work put into it. And thanks for the suggestions :)
Gonna test your map now :) I'm gonna like it for sure ;)
Well I got bored and made a grass version. Should I keep it or stay with the desert feel? And in the first pic is a new castle/building thing I am working on. Edit: Also, does anyone know how to stop the skybox drop off in the last pic?
I like the grass more ;) And i'm willing to node the old map if you want to. And i don't know how to fix the skybox :( Are you using a 3d on now or just the same old one?

About the skybox, check the Encyclopedia.
