Hmm, that's odd. Did it give any errors? Has anyone else had it crash?

Any chance you don't have the Orangebox?
as far as I know I do I have team fortress 2 and all the other games that come with it so yes I do have the orange box

Well the map runs fine for me, I wouldn't know why it crashes unless I knew the error =/
it says some thing about vguimatsurface.dll
it says some thing about vguimatsurface.dll
I tried to Google it, but it just came up with torrent forums meaning those versions where pirated. But for that error, I don't think it will be my map, the .dll file should have nothing to do with my bsp as far as I know.
ok I will try to delete it and see if it fixes it
Wowzers. Wow. Wow. WOW.
This is an AMAZING map, let alone for a first one. Besides the lighting (which is still really good), I would have never guessed this was made by a hammer newbie.
EDIT: What graphics card are you using, because those are some insane FPS rates.
If he's not moving anything in the map, then the frame rate will stay very high as the the image doesn't change.
1 word awesome

It's slow in that video. It can go a bit faster, but not much. The treads go crazy after that.
Awesome stuff dude!
But how well is it optimised? Those huge open spaces are fine as long as you've got occluders and areaportals to block off the underground areas.
Great map, My new favorite :)
However, I found a few issues.
While hosting it on my server(a dedicated on the box my community owns), it has a tendency to lock my pc up randomly, and crash out others, and this has not occured before with any other map.
Also appears to be a few gaps in the map, such as near the hanger door for the cliff hanger, where the stair walls meet the ground.
Addtionally(although I'm not sure if this was your intent) The elevator goes no where, it goes up to a small ledge, although the wall seems to imply that there is some sort of door.
Regardless, Still a blast to play offline(problem free) and is just an amazing map.

Well I tired my best on that part. All of the underground base and hanger have area portals. The base and hanger are both separated by an area portal as well. If you use mat_wireframe 1 (sv_cheats need to be on) you can see. For occluders, none as of yet =/

The crashes are probably cause of horrid optimization :(
For the gaps you are talking about, I have no idea what you mean.
For the elevator there are 2 buttons to open the door (sorta secret door).
Pics will show you.

To open the door to get into the elevator, just click the wall to the left of it. (A big button)

And thanks guys for the good reviews =3

Figured there was a way to open the door, I knew there was a door, but my poknig around couldn't find the button.
As for the gaps, this is what I meant

Edit: Blah, one typo on meant, and i'm back to negitive smartness :/
Awesome job overall! Great start on mapping. Keep up the good work!!!

I don't see that gap when I play?
No wonder I didn't notice that. No clue why it's there for you.

The Displacement goes all the way through that part of the wall, so it shouldn't make a gap.

Guess it's just me then :S Anywho, I really hope you can get the map a bit more stable running(had a few crashes in singleplayer as well) as this really is my new favorite build map, I just love the hangers and the sprawling complex.

The only problem with making it stable is I don't know how :D It's just brushes and a few doors here and there. Even the elevator is a door cause I didn't know how to make it the real way (It's a block the height of the elevator shaft with the elevator model parented to the top of it). Oh and two area portals and some water.
Edit:
And I never got around to finishing the whole underground complex. It was going to be about twice as big.
This is some amazing work you have here. I'm working on my first map for hammer as well. it's for a friends new gamestyle... but since he kinda bailed on me and decided not to add zombies to it, I'm just making the map for the heck of it... It's okay. I've made some doors an- wait... this is your thread.
I love it first off. Second, Maybe you should make the outdoor light_environment a bit more orange ( A BIT! no much at all. just slightly warmer) to make it seem like it's in early afternoon. grass always seems better in the afteroon (don't ask me why, just look at all the beautiful dusky forests).
Aside from the compliments, I have ONE question. My computer takes 2 hrs. to compile my fairly small map compared to this... bout half the size of flatgrass. soo... anyone know why it takes so long if his takes 15 minutes? mine does have around 15 trees.. but that's not much.

I would say cake. But the cake is a lie.
Great =]

For me VRAD is very fast on normal. I DO NOT Compile with VVIS on normal. That would take me a day or 2 to compile the map. Thus with it not being normal "It's set on fast", VVIS takes about 10-20 seconds and not a few days.
Nice.
Back on subject. I am worried that it might not work on my computer x] It looks so good I am worried it map cause me to lag and ruin my enjoying of it. But you still recieve the Mapping King and the Cookie I promised you.
nice... and could you explain what the downsides of compiling it on fast are? Just so I don't screw myself over being lazy...
Also, someone needs to node this sucker so that I can flood the uderground with mindless zombies and such.

This would be most epic =D NPC Spec-Ops Mission to break into the secret underground base to recieve the crystal Banana and return it to the other place...
\Great idea though =B
Nice map, but i think it's a bit to heavy for me. my loading is already at 10-15 mins because of addons :D

Wow that's a long load time. I have a few updates for the map. But I am currently only using them for a friends server. I can post pics and maybe a download if anyone really wants me to. Also note for that, only ask if you have no problems running the current one xD
I be thinking it needs some more stuff.... Like a tower? a base built around a rowwer or someting.... something to launch air raids from... or send couches covered in thrusters from...
