What about multiple cameras? If you are asking if we can use multiple cameras, it would be a bit poor if we couldn't.

Are you allowed to switch between several cameras as scenes in a way?
That was indeed what I was asking. The rule notice about the camera moving got me a bit confused.
That was indeed what I was asking. The rule notice about the camera moving got me a bit confused.
- Absolutely no player movement (Excluding NPCS) - Must be through a camera view (Does not have to be moving on a rail system, though it's recommended) I.E Anything through a camera is fine.
- Absolutely no player movement (Excluding NPCS) - Must be through a camera view (Does not have to be moving on a rail system, though it's recommended) I.E Anything through a camera is fine.
also: - Absolutely no player movement (Excluding NPCS) no player movement excluding npc's (so in other words No Player Characters) how can that be player movement in the first place? :v: And I was more confused by the fact that you can also have multiple cameras instead of one moving thats what got me thinking that you are perhaps not allowed to have multiple cameras.

A film has hundreds of camera shots, not just one. Also, you need to be able to focus on different parts of action, something you cannot do with one moving camera.
I just watched a video of the crytek engine, it looked really easy to make an amazing map, with the real time lighting updates and not having to compile a full map for an hour but instead jump right in and have a look at it. I'm really impressed with what Valve have created with Hammer, I mean its really not an impressive piece of software right now is it?
....What? I read that through three times and have yet to make out any meaning. Read your posts before you post them.

I am however unsure as to what this has to do with a cinematic competition.
....What? I read that through three times and have yet to make out any meaning. Read your posts before you post them.
Hammer is terrible compared to other map editors, its way behind and I'm impressed what valve can do with so little.
Hammer is terrible compared to other map editors, its way behind and I'm impressed what valve can do with so little.
It's designed for a purpose. It's meant to be a simple to use editor, and that's a hard thing to accomplish. It's not designed for anyone to use except valve and the mappers for the engine. I respect them for that. If you want to make a game, use unreal ed, as they will give you what you want. Valve will give you what you need.
Hammer is terrible compared to other map editors, its way behind and I'm impressed what valve can do with so little.
Hammer is only like this because Valve are using BSP, lightmapping and precompiled visibility. Wait a few (or a lot of) years and they'll surely update everything to what we had 5 years ago.

Alright, so I think I know what to do.. It might not be worth winning, but better than nothing at least :v:

Oi Judges: What are your PC specs? So I know if I can use 4096x512 texture or not.
Just go for it, not your fault if they lag to high heaven.
Oi Judges: What are your PC specs? So I know if I can use 4096x512 texture or not.
no no thats not going to work make them 256 by 32 :v:
Just go for it, not your fault if they lag to high heaven.
Actually it would be completely his fault :v:
I have a pretty shitty PC, but I can run most source games pretty well Pentium 4 3ghz Nvidia 9500gt 4gb Ram Windows 7 My specs, they are funny
I have a pretty shitty PC, but I can run most source games pretty well Pentium 4 3ghz Nvidia 9500gt 4gb Ram Windows 7 My specs, they are funny
But most Source games don't use textures higher than 1024x1024. On an unrelated note, my backspace key has decided to nor work.
My PC is to an alright standard.

This sounds fun, although I've never done any camera work in Hammer. I might give it a try.
My set so far:
Would bots in Counter-Strike: Source be considered usable for characters?
Would bots in Counter-Strike: Source be considered usable for characters?
Are you serious? Oh, you are. Uh, maybe?
I'm scrapping my idea. I'll come up with something else. Also, if any judges can't run a specific entry because it runs too slow or something I could use my computer for it: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13781308/Speccy.jpg
Would bots in Counter-Strike: Source be considered usable for characters?
As long as they're npcs
It's just occurred to me that I completely misread the rules, so snip.
