Omg that's awesome. Looks good so far! You should have different day times too(I like it to be morning) :D

Shit =(
I wanted to drive trains on here :crying:
There will be a subway that loops.
Will I be able to drive my Half-Life 2 Phoenix trains on them <3?
By HL2 Phoenix train, I mean spawning a half-life 2 train, then putting wheels under them, thus making them drivable in 3 props :D
Is this GTA4?
Wow! Looking great so far!
Make the light_environment brighter, it's too dark.

GTA III has kinda dull weather, like cloudy day
...Your joking right.
Blocklight brushes are skipped by vis just like skip and invisible and transparent textures.
Yeah I'm joking. Is there a need for a smart-ass rhetorical question? A sour one aren't you? This is the second time you've bitched to me, being the only two times you have ever talked to me, I see your really good at making first impressions. Go chill from mapping a few days an come back later when you're not feeling so elitist about your mapping skills. I would have been happy if you just said, "block light textures do not create leafs" I really would have been happy if you said that, but no of coarse you can't. Be friendlier will you?
Peace, hope you find it yourself.

You're a tool. Calm the fuck down.
Seconded.
aww... when i read RP_liberty city I INSTANTLY thought of the new one from GTA IV... turns out it's the OLD liberty city ..... :(
but it still should look good!
p.s. i realized now how hard RPing would be on the new Liberty City, unless you scale it down. you would need loads of players, and either a good computer or the map would have to be made low detail-ish.
Oh, like the fools who said that rp_evocity2_v1p needs like 5000 players to run? I went on a server, and 14 players filled the city. You don't need players that much.
Alright, I started that subway and may have pics soon but a skybox will be seen because I have only finished the station. The bridge has been widened to four lanes as requested, but the water still does not work. Also I messed up on the train tracks, any tutorials?
i think you should have posters in apartments with people like Claude,Tommy Vercetti,Luis Fernando Lopez ect
I don't know, the farther I get into this project the more it is turning into just another RP map. A nice RP map from my perspective, but that's all it is at this point.
Quite a problem, the water. It isn't solid and looks fine from some angles,

but nonexistent from others:

Last chance, is anybody still look forward to this or can I kill it?
You shouldn't stop it if you want to continue it. It is hard to get people interested unless you hype it up far beyond what it is. Even some of the best maps that aren't hypefests go relatively unnoticed. Also generally the people in the mapping forum ironically don't even play maps, so they're not going to get excited about screenshots. Unfortunate truth
Yeah, but the compiling takes years, this map was a large learning curve so only the recent stuff in it has actual potential. A lot of the older areas need for too much improvement, I am better off starting a new map with a predetermined concept. This was a fun and interesting run, but there are enough problems with this map as it is.
you have to change the skybox + light_environment... There are a lot of great maps that use a similar
setting to yours and they are all ruined because of the ugly ass lighting. Choose something thats unique
and beautiful, also i would suggest to take a custom skybox
As much as I hate GTAIV, I do hope this map turns out to be great. There aren't many recent RP maps that have been really, really good lately IMO
Not flaming or anything but how the hell does a bunch of grass and water take ages to compile?

Also, since I saw you mentioning that you are a beginner at mapping, instead of going to try and recreate a huge city, think small. Now I'm now pro but even I started small. I made a box with a bunch of smaller boxes in it and made spawnpoints for ct's and T's and off we go! :v:
What I'm trying to say is, practice a lot more before you decide to do something big like this.

Why the heck do you hate one of the best games ever?
Responding to old comment, but you push 1 to render less and 2 to do more in hammer, there are like 8 levels. Also CommaderPT if you look at x,y grid pic you will see he already made the skybox to almost the limits, which will take awhile.
What? No, the first few pictures are from a canceled map. Here is the modern one:

Oh, didn't see that lol, he might want to shrink that and make it bigger as he goes.

It's too realistic. Story is the best part about it, though it gets very repetative after a few playthroughs IMO. Although it has gotten better because if I remember correctly, they did not have as much cheats as they did during release as they do now. I think the game is way to overrated.
Call me a troll...i'm a Saints Row fan :0
A technique I have seen on a MMORG gamemode's map was having certain objects turn to sprites at a certain didtance and when you get close enough it changes back. It looked good too.

Why would you want the new Liberty City? It's basically just New york.
Also GTA IV sucked. It's probably the only GTA game I didn't like.

Unlike me you have no backup whatsoever why a game is bad. I hope to see more updates soon!
Also, i'm working on a map based somewhere in Stilwater...the rival of GTA, Saints Row :o
How's my gunstore D:

It's based off "Friendly Fire" and yes thats about how it looks in-game. If you wan't to use it as your gunstore, just PM me. I'd be glad to lend it to you with credits :D (and i'm still working on it)
I didn't know Saint's Row had Combine.
Also, close this thread...hijacking in progress.
