Not necessarily. It's possible for it to have support there without having beams.
Map is looking good. EDIT: Still.
What you have done so far should only take a few days if you map like 2-3 hours a day.
Of those 90 hours, I map for 1/2 to 2/3 of it; I open hammer and leave it open until I go to bed. [editline]07:57PM[/editline] update: and these supports that took me fifteen minutes and I'm still not 100% satisfied with.
Yeah the rusty black texture is really odd compared to the concrete and brick. I suggest making it concrete texture but 'incorporate' a more unobtrusive metal texture. So it looks like the metal is build into the concrete.
I cant wait for the release. For someone with such little experience with hammer, this is a very promising project. My only complaint is that the walls seem a little monotonous (im not sure if thats the word to use.) Try adding something to the walls to create differences.

That architecture looks a bit better, but I hope you're planning to do something about the empty corridor behind it.
That architecture looks a bit better, but I hope you're planning to do something about the empty corridor behind it.
oh yeah. There's going to be a whole bunch of shops along the outer wall of the trench area. I figured it was a good way to beef up the number of shops without dramatically increasing geometry. Don't worry, I've thought this through.
Wow I like that part under the bridge keep up the good work
maps looking good so far. [editline]03:53PM[/editline] oh yea. when do you think it will be done?
"It'll be done when it's done". Probably March or April at the latest. also, some in-games
Damn this looks really nice for a Construct themed map :v: And watching the video made it look even more awesome in my eyes, even though its rather blocky. Good work! Keep it up.

An easter egg or two couldn't hurt. Like the secret room in rp_c18.
An easter egg or two couldn't hurt. Like the secret room in rp_c18.
The noclip room?
Yeah, the room under the apartment area. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure that something like that would suit this map very well.
Fifteen minutes because I was tinkering with the design most of the time, it wasn't an issue of poor efficiency.
It's looking better, but damn, does the environmental light still must be plain white? It doesn't hurt to change it around a bit; I suggest you try it. But in other news, this map is getting a bit better at the moment. And by the way, I highly suggest you change something with those tall buildings; it looks blocky.
I would extend the trim outwards or something. It'll look much better that way.
I would extend the trim outwards or something. It'll look much better that way.
I'll either extend the trim or add some vertical elements on the façade, either way I agree with you that something needs to be done w/ those flat surfaces. also some in-games of the trench w/ the shops. I think it's better but I still feel it needs something more. Maybe some awnings or something would spruce it up a bit along w/ some decal work. and inside one of the shops looking towards the outside, fullbright'd because there's no lighting in there at the moment.
Its not the most epictastic thing ive ever seen, but its still worth a try! keep it up!
Make the shops not look exactly the same.
I would make the inner area of the shops smaller, and make the outer room larger. That way there's more room for say, a shop display.
I would make the inner area of the shops smaller, and make the outer room larger. When I'm RPing I care 100x more about how much room a shop has in the back than how much is out front. Here is the shops system. Note the varying retail/back area sizes and shapes, but each shop has a pretty large back closet.
omg nice map :D

Is there a hospital? :P A swimming Pool? Keep up the amazing work, this should replace downtown (although I know it's kind of a different genre)
Spoiler alert! http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d58/photobug101/rpconstruct22shhhgg0001.jpg?t=1264274219
Simple and awesome. Can't wait!
The red-white plaster wall texture of the building on the right side of the picture looks wrong.
