kidding.
it looks coll but the building placement is abit off but it's fine as long as there is space for building in gmod for gmod players

Please read. It's called RP_Construct for a reason: It's an RP map.

RP maps usually make great build maps, and adding a simple park to the map would add to this side effect, as well as make it look more aesthetically pleasing.

Why did you correct the mapper? It's HIS map.
Also, normally what comes before the map itself in this case "RP", Construct is the name of the map due it being construct theme based...
Question.
Do you guys think this will be fun to RP on?
Yeah. Would have been better with roads i guess. It will still be good though!
nice job mate the map looks nice
;20107187']Yeah. Would have been better with roads i guess. It will still be good though!
Yeah, it looks great. As soon as you release I'll be dl'ing and showing my mates. It will be great for our... needs.
I don't like the overly repeating textures, just makes the map look like an awful construct remake, If that's the look you're going for, spot on.
But I just think you could really improve it if it wasn't so bland, with lack of detail, and repetitive. Try and bring some architecture into it, not just blocks... The curved roof was a good start, but it should be consistent.
I would like to see a birds eye veiw screenshot of the city in its current design if you might be so kind =)
Well I had no idea this was a map that was supposed to look like a terrible construct remake, nevermind.
Well I had no idea this was a map that was supposed to look like a terrible construct remake, nevermind.
Clearly you're a dumbass and not late, because you saw some of the more recent screenshots of the wavy roof building.
Besides, look at the map. The textures aren't anywhere near repetitive, in fact, look!

It keeps going, by the way.

That building in the bottom-left is blocking a window on the base floor of the "five story high rise".
Looks cool imho... just saying.
I can already tell this map will be awesome. Does anyone else think that a Gmod.com admin should mention this in Garry's Mod news?
Maybe once it's finished. The final product will probably be more than newsworthy.

I don't think you quite understand me...
I merely suggested you add more varied architecture to the map, and your fanboys butted in.
All I'm saying is it could do with something to make it looks less ugly in some places....
To be honest, it's a nice idea, just could use some life, a little personal flare can go a long way in a map. I just thought you'd want some honest opinions rather than mindless praise.

Holy shit, you are an idiot.
There's a fuckton of varied and personal architecture in this map, look at the screenshots. Just because something is comprised of rectangular prisms doesn't mean it's bland, impersonal, boring architecture. See; Robie House

Also I don't appreciate you calling my fans mindless fanboys. Just because someone likes something that you don't doesn't mean their mindless.

There's no need to call me an idiot repeatedly, that won't get you anywhere.
I've been trying to tell you exactly this, that the construct architecture in some of the maps made in the past is simply incredible and breath taking. and that picture is another example of geometric shapes making up a fantastic construction. Your map has some areas of ingenuity in the design but the majority is very basic, and would really benefit from a little loving care taken into its design.
But your map doesn't look like that picture, this really isn't working...
Nevermind, I give up. If you really don't want to hear peoples opinions, why on Earth are you asking for them?
I try to distance myself from RP nowadays, but it does look good.

I may not have used Hammer much before starting this, but I know how to use it and just because I haven't made a map before this doesn't mean I can't make one now.
Frankly I'm not interested in arguing with deadchicken.
Sirrus, just because someone gives you a "negative" opinion doesn't mean you have to start crying. In all honesty, Deadchicken is absolutely correct on every aspect that he's pointed out: The main geometry is basic, the map as a whole needs vast improvement, your map looks nothing like that house, and the majority of people that compliment your map are those that have no experience in development or architecture. In my opinion, I believe that your map is a poor excuse for hard work. I can guarantee that any decent mapper could create a perfect replica of your map within three days due to how simple it is. I don't know what methods you are using to create this map, but based on the way that it looks, it shouldn't of taken any time to create this map at all; that's how simple it is. Moreover, it looks like every building was copied and pasted with poor texture differences on each building. Also, most of your textures aren't used properly. Finally, you're really proving yourself to be asinine by ignoring Deadchicken's criticism. No nutriding intended, but Deadchicken is a godly mapper and I can bet that nearly 99% of the time he knows exactly what he's talking about. If anything you should be grateful that he's even offering his constructive criticism on your map. You're a fool for calling him an idiot and insulting him.

2) In all honesty, Deadchicken is absolutely correct on every aspect that he's pointed out: The main geometry is basic, the map as a whole needs vast improvement, your map looks nothing like that house,
3) and the majority of people that compliment your map are those that have no experience in development or architecture.

1) You're right. Except for the fact that defending myself is not crying.
2) My point w/ the Robie House was that simple geometry can look very nice, and I never said that my map was like the Robie House, I was just trying to convey that simple geometry can look nice.
3) You're insulting me and my fans? Up yours. By your logic, I would have to go to culinary school before I could tell a chef his food tasted bad if I didn't like it.
4) Now you're insulting how I spend my time? Are you going for 100% across the board insults? I could care less if you insult the map, but damn, insulting the very time spent on this map?
5) I've said this before and I'll say it again: If it can be done in three days, then fucking do it. You don't know how much comments like that piss me off because 95% of the time they aren't true. If you think I'm wrong, then prove me wrong. Replicate this map in three days. This includes lighting, textures, interiors, doors, props, and everything else that goes into completing a map. Also, if you say "I have better uses of my time" then I'll be forced to assume that you probably didn't want to accept my challenge.
6) Shots below the belt that don't even make sense. The buildings are not copy/pasted and don't look like that. (Except for the buildings that are intentionally mirroring each other, like the offices and the most recent building)
7) Most of them? Besides the "concretefloor" debacle, I have no received a single comment about a incorrectly used texture since I rearranged the textures a month ago, and I want you to show me an incorrectly used one.
8) Disagreeing =/= Ignoring
9) Why should I thank him for insulting my map, me, people who like/support what I'm doing and all the work I've done? I don't care how good a mapper he is, if he insults me and my work I'm not going to trip over myself thanking him.
10) I was wrong to insult him, but I wasn't a fool to do so.
1. The way you defended yourself came off as childish. Just because Deadchicken gave you his opinion you started insulting and swearing at him.
2. Great, you're right, no one said that it can't look life. But you fail to realize that this isn't real life, this is Source. If you're trying to replicate something from real life you had better put in 500% more detail. That's why all your buildings look like, and are in fact, blocks.
3. I suppose you could say that I'm insulting you, fine. I didn't, however, insult your fans. I simply made a generalization, I said that most people that have supported your map have no prior experience of architecture or mapping. That's not an insult.
4. This isn't an insult, this is just an opinion. I'm implying that based on your map, you must be doing something wrong to have had spent this much time producing buildings that are blocks, blocks don't take a long time to produce.
5. The whole "If it can be done, then do it" is trivial. There's no point in recreating a map that I think looks poor. Even more so, I think the whole idea of a construct map is poor so there wouldn't be much logic in recreating your map just to prove a point.
6. This was also a generlization, it's implying that your architecture is so simple that everything looks like it's copied and pasted. It was never said that, that was the method used. It was said that "that's what it looks like."
7. It doesn't matter if it's a floor texture or ground texture, personally I believe that as long as it looks good, it should be used wherever. But once again I was trying to imply something: that the texturing just looks unorganized.
8. Skipped.
9. He wasn't insulting your map, he was pointing out the flaws so you could improve. You're the only one insulting.
10. Yes you were a fool to do so, it's even proven: You were banned.

You should thank him because criticism makes a mapper just a bit better. Believe it or not, every time someone criticizes your work, look back at your own creation and figure out what you did wrong. An average mapper would fight back at the critic, but the better designer would take in criticism and look into it.

I'm fine with criticism, but they way deadchicken "criticized" my map came off as offensive to me.
