What have you still got left before release and it's looking good so far. :)
what is the total playable area size? (L,W,H)
what is the total playable area size? (L,W,H)
Around 500' by 300'. Height is one unit higher than the tallest building.
i'm sure hammer can allow this, so can you make the maximum height twice the tallest building, so people can run around on the roof?
I'd be inclined to agree, but I think it looks fine. It wouldn't hurt to add a few buildings in the distance.
So you throw in some props and badly shaped displacement with generic grass texture and call it fine?
I really think that's a bad idea. Besides being a staple of Construct maps, the level of detail and the overall look of the buildings is a strong indicator that they cannot be reached because they're in the skybox.
Did I just read... Oh come on, 3d skyboxes are for detailing, there's no idea to make them look empty just because you can't access them.
yep. In my opinion skyboxes just need to be pretty to look at and increase the perceived size of the level.
Oh, for sure, but no: your skybox isn't pretty to look at. There should be a constantly changing level of detail in skybox: first very detailed buildings/whatever and then less detailed and so on.
D: It fell of the front page... How's the map coming?
First off... Your map is an upgrade of downtown, good job :D Second... If you ever map another map again, seeing how many trolling wannabe mappers are here, try not to clusterfuck the buildings... I know it gives it an urban feel, but look at evocity 2... He made a badass map without clusterfucking downtown... Next map? Try it :D

On topic, the skybox could use some variety because it looks bland, maybe some different buildings in there would spice things up a bit.
You should put some more brushwork in the 3D skybox, regardless of whether it's empty or not those building props are overused. And I would suggest polishing with some more decals, it adds some variety to your environment without any impact on performance whatsoever.
I lol'd. On topic, the skybox could use some variety because it looks bland, maybe some different buildings in there would spice things up a bit.
Sir, may i ask why you lol'd?
Sir, may i ask why you lol'd?
He bolded what he was laughing at. Also, as far as I know, there are little 'troll wannabe mappers' here.
Sir, may i ask why you lol'd?
Because in your opinion, criticism = trolling.
Irony would be a pretty obvious explanation
Sir, may i ask why you lol'd?
Because those "wannabe trolls" are better mappers than Sirrus who have already worked hard to prove their experience, only to be insulted by ignorant posters like you or the OP.
Because those "wannabe trolls" are better mappers than Sirrus who have already worked hard to prove their experience, only to be insulted by ignorant posters like you or the OP.
I thought I made my point clear that there should be no more random shit arguments about the comments of this thread, they do not contribute in any way to the map.
back on topic... reading through all 19 pages... this map has come along VERY nicely. Now, back off topic: Although, because of you, I've started to make my own map... DAM YOU!! My map is ...sorta... coming along nicely... (1 building... not very good, but its a decent apartment style building...) May have to ask for help maybe? :D
The lighting looks awkward in my opinion. But hey, it's your map.
Just noticed this now, but Change the texturing on this one.
It's been stated, by me, but I don't think he wants to.
I think he thought you wanted that texture to be completely different, not shifted. he might change it.
I like the way this map looks. [editline]12:08PM[/editline] so far
Why the map needs to be Or that's the "construct" style ?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyophYBP_w4&feature=related OH MAHHH GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
Downloading now. Looks good from the shots on the download.
Downloading as I type this, can't wait to load it up and see how it is! :D
Its a little confusing and small, but its nice. Nothing a little exploring cannot solve!
Found two things when I ran through: In this building here: There's this random blue door. Was this door intended to be blue? It seems very out of place. Then, in this building: There's this: [editline]03:10AM[/editline] Forgot to say how much I like it! It's very nice, has great atmosphere, and the varied architecture keeps it from being boring. Very well done.
Its a little confusing and small, but its nice. Nothing a little exploring cannot solve!
I think every map is a little confusing when you first download it. I never thought I'd work out the RP_Downtown sewers but now I know them like the back of my hand. Also to Tahrok, I think I'm going to change the blue door. I wanted to change the door texture a bit to signify that it wasn't an office, but now in retrospect I don't really like that door choice. I think I might just eliminate that back wall entirely and open it up to the stairs. Also for the black frame, I have no idea what causes that and why. I played with the texture and the lighting but it still remained black.
I think that the map is very interesting and awesome, but as soon as I ventured underneath the police station into the underground, well, I got lost. :| It's a little complicated but I'm sure I'll figure it out.
