Okay, fine mister grumpy pants. It would be kinda false advertising with the name, but its cool.
It's a bad idea. Construct doesn't refer specifically to the map GM_Construct, but a broader construct theme.
Looking very good! Be sure to add gutters and fire escape stairs later on ;)
Quick question. Even with this relatively small center area, I'm already at 20% brush capacity. Does the cap imposed when compiling the map refer to the number of brushes, or the overall space taken up by brushwork?
If you hit the brush limits, try using propper.

Oh, so I could like convert an entire building into a model?
Also, I asked this in the encyclopedia thread, but is brush limit calculated by number of brushes or volume brushes occupy?
Edit: New building.
I'm considering making the band in the middle thinner.

Yeah, it's too wide. I also recommend not having doors. Construct maps don't have doors, it'd just make it fun. Then again, you need to be able to lock them... I don't know, but being able to implement a system like that would be cool.
Just because the theme is Construct doesn't mean the architecture has to be boring and unoriginal as fuck.
Can you incorporate the actual Gm_construct in to the map on a level as if the buildings you are making are like the apartment building on an elevated level in the actual map. http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Decompiling_Maps
Do you even know what decompiling does to the VMF's?

How is the architecture boring? Albeit it is reminiscent of construct, but this map has great architecture I think. Why cant you all just go with it, its his map, let HIM make it how HE wants to make it.

Because it is a bunch of uninspired straight walls with repeating floor after floor, window after window, etc.
And I'm not stopping him from going with it.
Looking at the building, I'd advise using proper, or any modeling tool, and converting all your windows and their frames into models. This would reduce the brush count by 5 for each window, and looking at the map, could really cut down the number of used brushes ( 155 in that latest screenshot alone ).

Can you hook me up w/ some Proper tutorials?

I'll refer you to this picture:

Unfinished version of that building, but 95% the geometry was done at the time of that picture.

That's what showed me. It's really simple to set up and get working.

I didn't see if this was in the video because I don't have time to watch them right this minute, but does Propper work in a way where I can just convert the windows/frames to props right there and it doesn't really change it's location or look in the game, or do I have to convert it to a model and then place it in the world?
I walked in expecting a decompiled gm_construct with bad lighting and blocky buildings....
Oh how wrong I was!
Keep it up! :D
Unfinished version of that building, but 95% the geometry was done at the time of that picture.
It's still a bunch of blocks stacked ontop of each other.

Why you couldn't have included that in the post where you said "No", I don't know. It would have made you seem a lot less of an ass

If that building isn't boring, then I have no idea what could be interesting to you, to be honest.
Aparently, it's nothing short of modern architecture.

Don't texture the things we won't see in-game. Anyway, I like the map. It is awesome, just change some texturing a bit. And normally texture the rooms, I don't really like the texture from construct's garage.
Maybe do supports like this?

All the dev textures you can't see will be replaced with nodraw and all the ones you can see (when the map is done) will be textured logically.

You don't need to nodraw them, as long as they would normally be facing the void, and not inside the world

He's talking about where walls meet, like in the picture.

I suggest you learn what one is before accusing.
Tell him how he can improve apartments please?
I mean...
I've not seen much saying "Add this"
It's almost impossible to make flats "Spicy"
