But its already set to get released on thursday, we dont have to worry about that. thursday on valves clocks that is
Compile that fucker!
The end is nigh!!!
I don't map much so I don't quite get it, what is so bad about carve? Does it create a stupidly high amount of extra stuff that is utterly unneeded?

Imagine how fucking may he has.
"Do not carve" Carve is not a very smart tool, and it has become a standard saying that people should never try to carve with anything except rectangular blocks that are aligned to the grid. For example, trying to carve a cylindrical hole in a wall will horribly mangle the wall (see picture). As to optimization, there are three problems: This can sometimes confuse BSP, although not always. When the brushes are broken into triangles for drawing, there will be many more than are needed. If this wall is a world brush and it touches other world brushes, those brushes will also be broken into triangles poorly.
Oh god, why is the carve tool still in hammer?
While I was watching this, I seriously thought I could hear Hammer screaming in agony in the form of the sound from this video.
Welcome to the Empiresmod community, where we carve all of our maps XD
Oh god that's classic.
he must have like, 3 year compile times and the log has to be 95% "WARNING: MICROBRUSH"
:cawg: The video seemed very serious, so I doubt it.
that is called subtlety
I am so glad I didn't find that tutorial when I was learning how make terrain. I can't even imagine how bad that would have been.
I cried at the flat terrain carving D:
Minute and a half in, I'm getting scared. Died by the start of the fifth minute.
Omg He carved it....
87 and counting:smug: also, this was uploaded in the past 24 hours. most likely a joke
You all got trolled...
No really wth is that moron? I even know how to make terrain, but not THIS WAY!!!! Never! I would like to kick his ass. >.> Go play with paint or something.
It's not my video, I have my own youtube account, I had the first comment too. He's a guy off the empires forums.
Joke or not, I think somebody should die for this. The fact that it's in HD only makes it worse.
As soon as that guy made the first sphere i was praying that he wasn't going to do what he did...and oh god, he did.
Carving a sphere into a sphere to try and make Hammer crash: funny, laughable, amusing even. Carving anything into anything for use in an actual map or tutorial: may cruonos strike you down. Ten points to whomever gets the reference.
WHAT. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT. That's horrible. May he leave Source engine alone... because he thinks Hammer crashes too often. Permanently. And then, who knows, maybe he'll move onto some other engine and haunt others too...
It's not my video, I have my own youtube account, I had the first comment too. He's a guy off the empires forums.
I know :> I meant that TOPGUY who made the video and some crazy and usefull tutorial, 5/5 points for that. He should try make a sphere and carve a smaller one in it.... Carved terrain....How to get to this idea anyway?
^ You get the idea when you don't know about displacements, for some reason when I was learning how to use hammer I came easily accross carving tutorials and there were hardly any displacement tutorials, I didn't even know what displacements were for or that they existed so I did make a few maps by carving mostly blocks on other blocks, that proved inneficient anyways and the day after I learned about displacements and the clipping tool and I never used carve ever again.
That is all that video deserves.
That hurts... I don't know, if he's blind, or something, and didn't see how many brushes it made but okay. He should tell in video how long it took to compile, and how many fps he had, on his "good computer, because hammer crashes a lot"...
That is all that video deserves.
And I would call it "shocking or dusgusting content with physical attack".
Oh god, why is the carve tool still in hammer?
Every once in a while I do find a use for the carve tool that saves me some time, but never with cylinders, and not often. It can be useful when you have a rectangular brush and one side has been modified with the vertex tool, If you resize it by just shrinking it the vertex'd side gets messed up so it can be useful to use the carve tool to just snip the excess part off.
