Lets make it happen!
But who is willing to start one. Or should we do as group project?
Group project hooray!
I wish to help Although I'm still a beginner in all honesty
I could help with that by planing and contributing couple of buildings and textures. But we need one who takes responsibility of it.
Why not have a log thread for who's working on it and once they're done they upload it and paste the updated version in their post? That way there wouldn't really need to be any one person to "take responsibility" for it. You'd just need to establish some guidelines regarding modifying/moving/optimizing each other's work, and agree on an aesthetic.
By the one to take the responsibility i mean, that he'll makes the thread and eventually releases the map.
By the one to take the responsibility i mean, that he'll makes the thread and eventually releases the map.
I would, but I dont think I am experienced enough (havent even released a single one of my maps yet). Why not ask the guy who made the shopping mall collab?
Here's how I would handle it: * Assign one person to come up with the general layout of the map * Break the map into plots and use instances to make up the main map * Have the community decide which content to use that way it's clear up front and to provide better themeing * Since VMF's are nothing more then glorified text files put them all up on GitHub so that it is easy to submit changes and download. Keep custom assets used like models and textures on something like mediafire (GitHub doesn't like big art files) * Use a first come, first choice system for deciding who gets what plot * Give everyone a time limit of say a week to a week and a half to do what they want that way if someone doesn't follow through and finish someone else can take over that plot * Once all plots are finished compile the main map and post it up * Let the community decide which sections need reworking and then let those plots be open for selecting like prior * Rinse and repeat till map is done

We could only us standard HL2 and custom. And mostlikely the custom textures we'll be needing are some conrete, tiles and decals/propaganda. Who makes roads and areas between buildings? When the map is done, .vmf should be public for anybody to make personal edits.
Whoever starts the vmf. You seem to have already provided a layout, so it doesn't really matter. :v:
This is good reference to design the map by: [T]http://files.1337upload.net/this_seems_good-6ea83f.png[/T] Lots of enclosed areas. Some quick and messy drafts: [T]http://files.1337upload.net/another-6d3624.png[/T] And the old one: [T]http://files.1337upload.net/y_with_references-f3230d.png[/T] [editline]7th May 2014[/editline] Hmm, something bit more denser and enclosed would be nice.

And yes using GitHub would mean anyone can make personal edits and the like to it and we won't have to worry about it being taken down.
Can you take care of them?

Oh I missed this thread entirely, nice work Osku.
Sorry to bump a 2 month old thread, but is this actually being done still?
If you mean the co-operation map?
If you mean the co-operation map?
Yeah
Not even started.
Not even started.
I saw the map, and decided to try and take a go at it. (this was a few days ago) [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/wzxczvr.jpg[/img_thumb]
Not even started.
Well... Maybe it's time to begin?
