Latest VMEX doesn't fuck up brushes as much (in fact I have yet to find a single screwed up one).

Any hints/areaportals/occluders will be screwed, as is often division of brushes, and positioning of points for faces that were removed at compile time.
I think I told VMEX to decompile without hint brushes (which helps lol). Plus, it now actually recreates the map based on the .bsp data instead of trying to just convert the .bsp back to a .vmf. I think...

It's what it has always done, takes the data in the .bsp and tries to place stuff that was removed at compile back where it thinks it should go. It's literally blind guessing though, because information has been lost. It's like converting a smooth curve graph into a series of points. the exact location of a point between 2 defined x values is lost forever (unless you have the original equation, i.e. vmf) so you can only approximate where you think the points used to lie, based on looking at where the other points lie. And in other words you have removed some of the optimisation anyway, and you are going to have to redo that too?
Chaoslord, quit being such a stubborn asshat. VMEX fucks up your map, no matter what. Redo it from scratch, I guarantee it won't be that much work. It's such a simple map anyway.
And, just a suggestion personally, don't put in massive hills like in Freespace06, because when I tried to make shit it looked bad because the hills weren't helping and it just looks like shit in the finished product. Example: Making a track on FS06, didn't work because my trains can't exactly use the PHX 22.5+ degree track.

It's a fullbright piece of shit that flies all over the map in several pieces when you touch it, and breaks even worse when you press the supposed activator button. Chaos, you've never been good at mapping anything. I still remember giving you the source to one of my maps because you begged for it and the modifications you made to it on the VMF you gave back were horrendous. You need to actually learn how to map before you go shitting on someone else's good map.
What the hell?! It worked fine for me. The pyramid collapses to one level, swivels up, then sinks into the ground. Not sure what you did there, Giga, but...ehhh. And it's fullbright just cos it's a small test not an entire map. Oh, and to all the "dunt decompile" Q.Q'ers, I've requested the original VMF from HelioG if he still has it.
In fact, it works fine for most people I've talked to who've tried it. I realize that I haven't told the pyramid parts to ignore the physgun (yet), but that's a minor issue that I intend to solve. Soon. [b]Edit:[/b] OH, I almost forgot. You gave me the VMF for that map cos you wanted me to release it so you could avoid the whiners. So don't even try it, Giga.
Still, don't decompile. I've never just taken anyone's map, edited it and released. Decompiling maps is for inspiration, or if you want to know how they set up specific entities to work.
HelioG hasn't responded to my request for the original VMF, so I guess I'm stuck with the decompiled one...great.

It will be, if I can figure out what Giga did to get the pyramid to break. I tested it, a friend of mine tested it on his server, and it worked fine.
I have a better idea, start from scratch call it something else, we don't need another freespace. Come up with your own ideas, people will look and go oh thats new i'll look at that. Now a days people see freespace and take it for a crappy remake that people like [B]YOU[/B] Think they can improve by moving everything around and changing the textures tl:dr edition Don't Be a Hack and come up with your own original ideas.
I'm trying to implement some of my original ideas into a map that has been the same for too long. I'm not trying to add crazy stupid hacky shit that's gonna make everyone Q.Q about the map. I remember when freespace09_TH(whatever it was) came out. Everyone Q.Q'd about the fact that the underground area the guy had added wasn't visblocked from the surface so it caused a ton of lag. I intend to not make any of those mistakes. I am going to test, test, and test some more until I iron out as many bugs as I can find. I am not going to release this unless I truly believe it is worthy of a release. In other news, has anyone else tried the pyramid? I really want to know if anyone else has has problems like Giga appears to have. Though I'm not sure he didn't just physgun it to make it look broken...(forgot to check the flag for that ><)
If you want a map that people don't QQ about, then don't make it "freespace". It's already got people QQing because of the name and concept.

Actually, no. First release, yes, first map, no. Though most of my maps were more about testing various physics shit than actually making beautiful maps.
