As great as Downtown's sewers are. They're too big! I played this today and I felt that what this need is a re-texture. The brushwork is great, but the textures seem a bit badly placed and low res (Some rooms were just far too colourful!). Also bigger rooms and more interesting things in the shops. With a little bit of work (And more streets) this could become an excellent map. One to rival Downtown!

Tried, didn't like, too flawed but I can tell you put a lot of time into it.

Am I the only one not seeing the hype in this? There are hundreds of glitches. I had fun filling a bathroom with 4 inches of water from Water STOOL, lagged like a bitch but never crashed. :v:
If people aren't decent at mapping they cant see the bad stuff in the map. Big unrealistic windows with now frames Bad brush work

Also, in the business area, if you jump onto the fence near the alley or the hedges near the end of the road, you can look over the wall and see an untextured area. Bad news is that train error has problems i can fix it but it means that the train will stop and start suddenly....
I think you should add an area between the homes and building areas, where it is flat area for people to build their own little houses or town center. also one of my main annoyances are the bushes, they seem like they are just boxes that texture on it and that you can't walk through some of them that you should be able to, maybe adding func_push instead of making them solid? Also the wooden fences around the homes are way too thin, don't ever make things that have 0 width.
As far as I know, it's impossible to have 0 width, and he probably just nodrawed the top and bottom to try and optimize them, which is why they look very thin.
Downloaded it, ran it, here's what I think. For a V1 you're off to a great start. Many of the buildings have good layouts, there is good use of custom textures and plenty of buildings for players to make use of. But there were a few minor details that need tweaking. -The power plant could use a way in and out where you don't have to hop a fence. -There is a line in the ground behind one of the houses in the residential area where you can see through. -Many of the fenced-off areas in the downtown area don't have a ground either. -Many props in interiors hover ever so slightly off the ground. -The Kellco building near the gas station has poor lighting on the inside, causing all models inside to appear black. The texture for the garage door in that building is also misaligned. -Shading on many of the custom models is a bit bright. -The train moves slower than it takes to run. -One thing I'd like to see is more use of windows that have frames, rather than plain sheet glass. Especially in the residential areas. -The police station isn't quite minge-proof. (Several RP maps have it so that there are doors that open/close with buttons rather than relying on the RP lock/unlock tool script) One thing I did once was I made thick walls with a trigger_hurt 1000 brush sealing the entire cell off and one that activates/deactivates when the door is closed/opened. That prevents people from noclipping out. Also useful for sealing off admin rooms, should you decide to build any. -Brushwork is occasionally sloppy. But not too bad. I think the bigger problem is that you have a lot of plain, flat surfaces that you could break up with a prop or just something creative here and there. -I think you should add an additional section. Possibly industrial or something like that. Most of these things aren't really that serious though. Just some stuff I noticed that you can work on.

Alot of your props are really messed up, like some couches are going through the walls to another room and alot of things are just floating. Uhm, overall it's a nice map to play on but I think you need to fix up alot of the brushwork before you release V2, try and get some beta testing first though so that you can get others to find problems. If you need anything just ask.

For the next versions of the map I promise I will do thorough beta testing, that's if Jamzzster uploads the map for me more often. However, I'll make sure there are no bugs for the future.

Everyone seems to have a different style of playing games and searching around for bugs probably won't cut it. You're going to need to do a private release with a few friends and play on the map for quite awhile.

I'll be honest, I think it sucks. I found way too many glitches to find it enjoyable. A lot of the rooms are way too small, and when doors open, they blocks entryways. quite annoying. Also, the pawn shop was badly placed. It was on the second floor of some building, and it should have it's own separate, smaller building. As a mapper as well, it's easy to detect bad brushwork. It's also too bright, imo. I don't think it was worth release, to be honest. Fix the bugs, and change the houses, and you'll be on your way. You never said it was a beta (you even said 'finished'), yet there are a bunch of bugs. i liked the subway though i'm not trying to flame, but it really needs [i]a lot[/i] of work. but yeah, the easiest way for me to find bugs in my map is to run around with it with a friend. I found easily 10+ bugs in my map that way.

I'd say this is a great start for a v1 map, but like the people above me mentioned about the couch props going through walls. And the map needs to be much more optimized. Protip: start out with nodraw brushes, and texture the faces that are supposed to be visible to the players.

I was wondering if there could be a night version? Just a lil' request for Tonight's ZombieRP Server, this would fit really nicely. By the way, the map is very well done.
This map needs a lot of work. I noticed a lot of glitches that should have been noticed right off the bat. This map reminds me of my very first map, rp_silenthill_b1(worlds largest pile of shit). I made a lot of the same mistakes you did. Especially lighting wise this map feels extremely shallow. Textures have no depth but with the right lighting would and it would feel nicer. This doesn't make up for the lack of door and window frames, if you are going to make windows that don't have a frame use a texture that has one on it. There are also brushes that are about .2-.5 units away from where they should be so I hope to god you have snap to grid on but it might be from a bad clip job which is what it looks like. (mall entrance). Texture choices don't make any sense either. I realize you seem to be using mostly hl2 default textures but you have cs props, use some cs textures to jazz it up a bit. If I lived in any of those houses I would immediately remodel. Or another suggestion go into photoshop and recolor the ones that are there. This map is not horrible, but it isn't great. It's fair. I give it a 74% C. With some lighting changes and adding some more detail and some different textures that score could be improved. Keep on mapping, you have potential.
Yeah, the map needs more work so a V2 would probably do some. You need to change the lightning enviroment, maybe add some tanning to the windows or make em smaller/other desgin, optimize the map. Hoping for the V2 to come out soon, this is looking good.
