I really can not wait to combine this map with some MedievalRP, this my firend, is possibly the best thing since bread and butter, its' a really detailed and super awesome map, a nice touch would be a mine, in MedievalRP, i was always wanting an actual mine, going underground 'n' all that mining to me is epic , although a quarry is nice, i pefer actual mines, i was brought up in a mining comunity, wich is most probably why i like it so much. A nice pulley system to transport rocks would be good, but i think, you should pass on this, seeing though it is close to release, i don't want you to put extra work on for you, but it was the tought that counts eh? -EDIT- Ok, seeing the community hates that idea and thinks it is dumb, just ignore it.
A cave would be EPIC, (underneath the castle, like -thatguywho'snameIcan'tremember- said, and drew (kind of bad I have to add, but you saw what he meant xD))
this is awesome
oh come on dont let this die
I do think there needs to be two mines (one small hidden one, possibly for the rare metals and such) And one larger very deep one. By that I mean, make it some decent tunnels, it doesn't have to be rediculously big, just fairly easy to get lost if you're new. Make sure to add pillars of stone (natural) to add to it. I know, this is near the end of developement, but I'm going with it anyway, and saying what I think regardless of how much strain it puts on you or the release. Think of it this way though: Medievel RP, or at least that really good looking new one, are a little ways off, and this could wait til' then.
oh come on dont let this die
it doesnt die...
no it wont!
This close to release, i doubt it'd die.
Hmm, i do have a pretty nice grass texture in a map im working on. EDIT: high res that is.
You will find a way. You MUST.
I agree. Perhaps convince someone to make a custom texture for you and include it with the map?
This is an amazing map. You are an amazing mapper. I hate you. Good work. : P
OMG I am dying waiting for this map... is there a release date yet? are you still working on it?
I'm still working a bit on it, I'm trying to optimize it better.
Now to think of it, is there any Medieval skins/hexed models expect for knights/army? I haven't seen any peasent or royal skins/hexed models anywhere.
i want someone to make a knight playermodel of a file on garrysmod.org
i've requested that once, but got no serious response...
There are knights, footmen, archer and Peasant playermodels in ShoTGuNGuY's playermodel pack. It is an SVN, the playermodels that you'd want are not seperate, so if you wanted those player models, well, you'd have to download 182 other playermodels too... Here is the link to the thread about it incase you wanted it. http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=778675
any luck?
I know this is a RP map obviously for Multiplayer. but will it be noded?
nope
soon done mate?
well?
yes, soon. I know i've said it a thousand times, but that's the way it is.
That would be a epic (medieval) rp map :D.
and that's exactly what it is.
great map, cant wait until it actually hits gmod.org.
dirtroads and another farm .. wheat fields or w/e (old grass ot wtf it is called in hammer maybe?) http://cache2.asset-cache.net/xc/10026221.jpg?v=1&c=NewsMaker&k=2&d=5047FA587DE1CADE9C13FC61B75678155830D74B009670841A61D63458CE5F5E
The castle itself looks as if it's going to be a real success. But the landscape leaves something to be desired. Its very barren and could definitely use more trees, rivers, rocks and the like.
yeah you're right about that. I'm thinking about releasing a smaller version of the map. With only the castle and the town, which i will change a little bit.
Well done, sir, well done. Really impressive job. I can't say absolutely nothing bad about anything in the map. (Except some parts of the landscape, and more tiny tiny details.) Now, my ideas. First, everyone says the landscape looks little bland. Well, not bland, but... Only placing woods and bushes won't help. Place something like: Like this road. As you can see, it has very strong contrast to the grass on the sides. It's at the same heigh level as the grass. Only dirt roads make it look repetitive. Make something like this: A stone road, which represent the main road, coming out from the castle. And make dirt roads around the stone road. This was commonly used in the past. This road is the best example of what you should do. As you can see, it's bumped in the middle, and when the transition betweed road and grass is made, a little bump is made. Not flat road. If you use both of them, you will get a really good looking example of the medieval roads. Bonus. I don't know how this can be used, I just found it, and I liked it. Maybe somewhere in the castle? Anyway, I can optimize the map, but only the inside of the buldings, I'm scared in optimizing the outside area, if it's needed.
Don't want to bump, but I do want to see when this gets done. Looks positively epic thus far. Good job. Specifically could work as portions for comics, namely the inside of that castle. Or at least what I've seen so far.
